Let's be honest Groves is a supremely confident bloke. I believe he can't see anything but a victory in this fight. I actually think he believes he does everything better than Jr and that he thinks he can do whatever he wants to get the W. I also believe this supreme confidence is going to get him seriously hurt. I think he does try to go toe to toe and he gets busted up and stopped after a severe beating.
It could set on fire this one! If Groves is on form then I am edging towards a Groves SD. If he's not I think CEJ overwhelms him.
Does anyone rate Callum Smith? He's supposed to be favourite I think.. I don't see it though. He looks quite raw & amateurish at times... Looks like another cleverly with better power maybe.
Do not forget Groves has seriously hurt somebody just like Jr did. And do not forget Groves is the bigger man and the harder puncher so it could easily be Jr getting seriously hurt and on the end of a savage beating or brutal KO. But if it came to it and Jr was in serious trouble, I'm telling you now, for all the talk about "the warriors code" and "never quitting" Sr will pull him out, he has been up close and personal to tragedy and will not sit there while Jr is getting tanked. Also do not forget, It was Sr who lost his pen and courage when it was time to sign for Golovkin, he didn't want to see his any boy on the receiving end of a brutal beating and walked away. The Eubanks are very good talkers and we're/are good fighters but they are not what they say they are and pretend they are, it's all about the money and sales, it's not about fighting and legacy so we will see what happens (maybe not now but sooner or later) when Jr is on the end of a beating and I'm convinced I'm correct.
I agree. I am not writing off Jr, he has stamina to burn, he is game, he has displayed solid enough chin so far but I believe Groves is technically superior, punches harder and has far more experience which could well play a huge part. If Groves just uses the jab correctly and often and can control the distance then Jr is in trouble. But what I want to see the most is Groves really attack that body, right from the start, Jr might have his fathers chin (we will see) but if he has his fathers body then he could be ruined very quickly because his defence is almost non existent at times, Jr lunges in, throws shots and leaves himself completely open to body shots and that could be his downfall.
I’m struggling going with Groves and yet there’s plenty of professional opinions say Groves, the bigger man, good jab and will keep Eubank at range and could just turn out be to powerful being a natural Super middleweight as appose to the always in shape Eubank who going off his last weight update has to eat himself up to Super Middleweight. Personally I wanna go for Groves but I’m finding it hard to go against Eubank, the younger, faster, ultrafit boxing machine that is Eubank. Saunders says he’s a good fighter but not a boxer and anyone who can Box him will be undoing but anyone who fights him will come off second.
I consider this a purely domestic affair between Brit-level fighters and offer no opinion about what goes on in the British ant hill.
I am definitely rooting for Eubank.... but unfortunately I will be picking Groves. I think the size and experience will play a factor here.
