I saw it live on Tuesday Night Fights. Larry IMO got a gift decision. He was 47 and not in good condition for this fight. Harris I believe was only like 21 years old at the time.
Larry Holmes got outboxed. Holmes' admission that he had a "tough day at the office" was his way of saying that he got his butt kicked. And it was Holmes' fault. Larry often times showed up during his comeback in less than stellar shape. I mean, a lot of his tough comeback fights, e.g. Ferguson, Navarre, Harris, could have been easier if he had trained properly. Showing up at near 250 pounds for a lot of these fights did him no favors. He was not a plodding power puncher; he was a crafty boxer whose style relied on speed, mobility, timing, and foot work. Showing up flabby and chubby was stupid, especially at his age!
