Darke is in a completely different league to Adam Smith.

The Americans moan a hell of a lot about Jim Lampley - I'd swap the entire Sky team for him on his own.

The HBO team have no clue about boxing other than manny steward and lennox lewis.

roy jones jnr was a good commentator and so was george foreman. the guy bernstien on Showtime is class.

Since when was knowledge a pre-requisite for working on Sky's boxing coverage?

    I agree.

Darke is quite independent of mind, whereas Smith just agrees with anything Jim Watt happens to say, in between bouts of talking complete ****ing gibberish.

Darke at least sets the scene for what lies ahead.... and potential occurences.

Smith just tells you which one he wants to win and commentates as such.

Darke all day and all night. Pardon the pun. Even when I hear him commentating on football I can't help expecting to hear him say something like "Great left hook from blah blah blah. This one's really warming up now". Was an esxcellent boxing commentator and his voice is the audiotrack to some of my finest boxing memories. worked well with Glen McRory, too. Does Darke not commentate on any boxing for Sky now?

Just read the rest of the thread. Agree that Smith tends to be too biased, but he probably picks that up from Jim Watt who is incredibly biased. Although I do like the way Watt says "Punchies" instead of punches. Makes me chuckle. But then I am an idiot. Anyway, Smith reminds me of Alan Partridge. Anybody else or is that just me, too?!
