The "Blocky prediction" is that Calzaghe butchers Kessler and grinds him down to a late stoppage after a beautiful, brutal one sided affair.

I take it as my cemented pick.

Who else is taking it? Come on JC fans, we've got one more career defining performance for our guy and it's going to be phenominal, don't submit to the will of evil people like DanePugilist, Decebal and Deram who say otherwise.

Calzaghe by a supernatural, murderous display.

    :deal

I think Calzaghe will take it, but I'm just not sure about seeing him stop Kessler.

Given his hand problems I am no so sure about the stoppage either, but what is up with China Hand Joe? He says Kessler will stop Calzaghe. I never expected that from him. I think JC by UD handily

    Supernatural? Murderous? That's way overboard.

I'm looking at this as 60/40 fight for Calzaghe and it's not going to be easy. It's going to be very competitive and I'm not discounting an upset . . . in fact I'll be rooting for one. :yep :hey

Count me in - I've been saying that Calzaghe does a "Lacy" on him since they've been talking about this fight. Calzaghe by late TKO in a MUCH more one-sided fight than people expect.

Excellent, the 2005/2006 fight prediction king joins in on the Blocky prediction.

If Calzaghe wins (and I don't think he will), it will be a closely contested fight, with Calzaghe's greater volume carrying the decision. I would be utterly shocked if he were able to pull a "Lacy" on a fighter who is considerably more skilled, and has many more facets to his game.

Personally, I think Kessler stops JC late in the fight.

Mind games, manipulation and win-win strategising; he hopes that Joe will win so that he can say it was a past-his-second-prime Joe that did it. If he loses...well, he would not have lost had he been at least past-his-first-prime.

But, undoubtedly, deep down, there grows a grain of doubt. China Joe is no fool.

But for that to happen, Calzaghe would have to be better than he was against Lacy, right? Because Kessler is not on par with Lacy...Also, this assumes that Kessler will not have improved for the fight? Who can improve more of the two? I go with the younger man.

Incorrect. Kessler is highly tentative when pressured/swarmed and against speed and high volume workrate, this will make him more and more tenative as the fight goes along and it will give Calzaghe more oppurtunities to land his body of work on a docile Kessler who can't take the heat.

Kessler is a better fighter than Lacy, but he's at a tremendous stylistic difficulty.

All of this is explained well in the Blocky prediction.

All things being equal, normally I WOULD go with the younger guy. But I'm just not convinced that Kessler is at Calzaghe's level. He may not be as unproven as Lacy was, but he sure is compared to Calzaghe. My take is it's too much of a step up for him, just like it was for Lacy.

I'm definately going with Kessler. I think people are sleeping on Kessler. He's alot more talented than people give him credit. I have no idea why people are comparing him to Lacy, they have two entirely different styles. J.C has been living off that Lacy win for too long. Kessler 116-112.

Calzaghe at 35 is still at 80%, very fresh for 35. People going off of Bika and Manfredo have to remember Salem and Ashira as reasoning on why Lacy would "destroy" Calzaghe.
