I was intrigued by the number of fans here who are hoping James Toney does agree to fight in the UK, even a shot Toney, so as to see a real quality boxer ply his trade in the flesh (intentional pun ). It got me thinking, I think we've had very few really high quality boxers come over here, not since I became interested in boxing anyway back in the 90s. When I say high quality, I mean ones that are universally regarded as say the best in their division, or one of the best pound for pound in the world. In fact, the last one I can remember is Gerald McClellan. So I'd be interested to know, who is the best boxer you've seen live? Have any of you guys gone over the pond and been able to see any of the greats. Not necessarily in world title fights, since they're usually in Las Vegas hotels with small arenas, but in any circumstance, on their way up, when they were on the slide or whatever. Share the memories!
mayweather, lennox lewis, holyfield, corrales, castillo, marquez, plus lots of domestics, been pretty lucky.
Eubank, Benn Hatton Maussa Robin Reid Peter Culshaw Calzaghe Kessler saw a few of them more than once .
Mayweather, Lewis, Barrera, Tszyu, Calzaghe, Hopkins, Castillo, Mormeck In woman's boxing, I've seen L.Ali fight in both Berlin and LA Fighters I wished I'd seen: Tyson, RJJ I've also seen Hatton fight quite a few times
When I was six, I went to Hagler/Minter... I got to see Meldrick Taylor; but sadly it was against Espana, and he was on the slide, big time. So I guess outside Hagler, the main event of Taylor/Espana; Lewis (against Razor), was the best fighter I saw. I also got to see Lennox and Bruno as well.
