Roberto Duran, Jose Napoles, James Toney and Archie Moore are some of my favourites- but being a sadist I love Nicolino, I’ve watched just about every second of film we have of him :loko2gaydude:

Nothing wrong with liking Locche, I watched him for the first time a few months ago. I really enjoyed watching him fight.

As was Eddie Mustafa Muhammad when he was really well-prepared and locked in … which wasn’t often enough, sadly.

He has an endless stream of defensive manoeuvres and dominates almost entirely with a single hand. Rare and wonderful fighter.

I'm sorry. I was not saying anything negative about your Derrick Gainer response. I was just enjoying a play on words for Derrick "Smoke" Gainer.

I wish I had remembered to include and mention EMM!! What a classic example...as in his two masterpiece fights vs Johnson and then "The Bull" Jerry Martin. That stoppage of Martin was a sort of oblique revenge over James Scott, in that Scott beat Eddie, Martin trounced and bounced around Scott, and then Eddie has this magical sort of artistic performance vs Martin...a "companion piece" in a way. to his masterful stoppage of Johnson.

IMHO, the very best defensive master of all, especially when you factor in the long career he had as a magician..and that with the exception of that trip to the canvas...an aberration ...vs the vicious punching Carlos Hernandez...Locche wasn't "caught" and crushed as was Benitez,...and not decked or hurt as many times as Sweet Pea Whitaker was. It's always a huge treat for me to watch a Locche fight...especially that one vs Fuji.

You don't have to be a "SADIST" (or masochist) to watch and appreciate Locche...just connoisseur of masterful defensive artistry.

I wish his competition had been steeper.

Of modern times, Juan Manuel Marquez is the most impressive as he would counter in beautiful combinations. Napoles from the past too. Would make you miss and punish you with power. Jose Medel too. A master off the ropes.

To elaborate on Victor Galindez's counterpunching brilliance, I remember an excellent example when in the 5th round of his defense vs Eddie Mustafa Muhammed, when Eddie started troubling Victor with some body shots...he had Galindez's back against the ropes and threw another one, when Victor countered instantly with a counter right hand that put Eddie on his ass. Galindez was like a pit viper then...
