Who's the best counterpuncher Calzaghe has ever fought?

A good counter puncher wouldn't of lost to Taylor.

 

Kessler can be a good counterpuncher..., Calzaghe was just "too good".

Trust me, Calzaghe will destroy Hopkins, this fight will NOT go to the decision.

 

Kessler is probably the best counter puncher Calzaghe has faced. I always thought Kessler was very good as a counter puncher.

I'd have to agree with you there, especially about the crowd and all that. I hate to seem like I'm making excuses for Kessler, but it was obvious he was in that fight with totally the wrong mindset in many different ways!

Though I think its cool, Calzaghe hopefully will get the glory he finally deserves/has wanted if he fights some light heavies, and with American stars like Taylor, Pavlik, and others to compete with Kessler after they move up in weight, I see the future as very bright for Mikkel. I've seen a lot of people say he would be blown away by Pavlik, but honestly I don't think we've seen enough of Kessler to know that for sure. And just based on his best from the Calzaghe fight, I think Kessler would be able to handle Pavlik well. Though of course, it is still too early to tell for SURE.

I can't wait for his next fight though!

 

Kessler would do more than handle Pavlik. He would brutally knock him out, not a problem at all

 

I thought he looked good counter punching Andrade, though he isnt the best fighter and is very open. But what you said at the end is definetly his strength.
