Also, who's the best fighter you'd give him a punchers chance against? I find the lack of love for Zamora within the community (most places anyway) to be criminal. Coincidentally, who's the "worst" fighter you'd favor against Zamora due to styles? Finally, would Zamora have benefited from 122 coming around a little earlier, or fighting in another time period entirely? This content is protected
Zamora was a great fighter, who fought in a significantly better era for Bantamweights than now. With the exception of Inoue, I would pick him over any recent Bantamweights. I would also likely favor him over the excellent smaller men like Chocolatito and Estrada. But, all of the above would be great fights. I am not sure Zamora knew how to be in a boring fight.
Gotta wonder what the power of a dynamo like Zamora could do to Inoue if he landed flush. Nery stunned and floored him recently.
Facetiously, I could say the best fighter I’d favour him over is a bantamweight Eusebio Pedroza! But, seriously, I’d love to see him with any of the (relatively) recent bantams and super bantams like Rafael Marquez, Israel Vasquez and of course, Inoue. I’d favour him over Marquez and Vasquez just because he hit so hard and they would likely end of going to war with him - big mistake. But Inoue… I think Zamora would probably lose. Inoue is a big guy and yes, he was dropped by Nery but I think he probably wouldn’t be in the same weight class as Zamora these days - that’s why it’s so hard comparing old money/same day weigh in fighters with modern fighters.
Zamora was a very good fighter and could have been great but he never recovered from the Zarate beating.
