He has 2 losses by KO yet he wiped out the division :think And because Moorer loss to Foreman he would of lost to LL ? Yeah I don't think so look at what Rahman did to him the same guy that Maskaev put through the ropes .

And who knows how Bowe Lewis would had turned out in the pro's .. But lets not act like Lewis was walking through everyone ,Mike Tyson's former sparring partner Oliver. McCall stretched him so lets not talk about how easy it was !

holyfield is a pretty popular pick and rational based on his incredible resume for a CW, but for me the peds abuse takes him down a peg.

Gotta go with 4. Wlad the King of longevity 3. Tyson, an early trajectory never likely to be bettered in history 2.Holyman and 1. Lennox, King of Everything. Even if you beat him , he will come right back and kill you for it.

An argument can be made for Lewis, Tyson, Holyfield.

Lennox the most dominant, Tyson the most skilled, Holyfield the most persistent. All 3 operated on an extremely high level at their best.

 

Lennox Lewis.

 

Lennox has he avenged his only losses. Peak for peak he beats all others with the giants giving him a tougher time

It's gotta be Tyson Lennox or Wlad? You could throw Holmes into the mix... I'd go Tyson, Lewis, Wlad in that order with Holy and Vitaly behind.

I'd have to wait till Wladimir's career is over to really judge, but it would either be Lewis or Wlad.

 

Had the question been best for the past 35 years I would have voted for Holmes since he won the title in 1978 and proceeded to defend it more than any other HW since Joe Louis. In my book he wins that category hands down.

But since the thread is about the past 30 years, I would have to give it more thought.

Starting in 1983 Holmes defended his title 7 times. Wladimir defended the title 15 times, Vitali 9, Lennox 9, Iron Mike 9. Therefore, Holmes is worthy of much consideration as best in the past 30 years. But I would have to rate these others above him even if only by a slight margin. And for the record, I believe that in his prime Holmes with his great boxing skills, stunning left jab, and stamina could have defeated these other champs.

 

I'm going with Larry Holmes as well even if he originally won the title more than 30 years ago. He's definitely the most skilled guy of that bunch and with footwork that only the young Wlad could match - I think a prime Holmes would have run circles around Lennox Lewis.
