What is it with the Irish fight fans being so sensitive about anyone not nuthugging their fighters?

With regard your question about backing the Irish in their big fights......

If for instance Rogan was Welsh, would you have been backing him to beat Skelton, based upon Skelton recently winning the Euro title and Rogan beating Audley Harrison?

On McCloskey, bearing in mind Lynes was robbed after schooling Branco recently and had previously taken Witter the distance and competed well...... McCloskey wasn't well known, nor was his resume up to much..... the smart money would be on Lynes.

Lindsay vs Appleby for me is a pick 'em fight.....

Lindsay was being soundly outboxed by Derry Matthews before coming back to win by stoppage....... but has previously looked pretty smart in the ring and has underrated power.

Appleby has been pretty well matched thus far, but seemed to get frustrated last time out against Pickering, who was there to survive and collect a paycheck.

I would leave that one well alone.

Rogan would beat Sprott, pretty soundly as well taking into account what we now know. Pre-Skelton I would have left that alone as well.

Appleby is going to beat Lindsay. And its nothing to do with who is Irish/Northern Irish/Scottish. People just pick fights as they see them, I don't see many people on here concerned about where abouts guys are from.

we do get our arses up a bit if someone starts shitting on a fighter unfairly, so much so that i think we then build them to be as good as others make them out to be bad

i think generally we are OK in calling our fighters as they are. check the irish board before the dunne fight, only couple people saying please be positive and we thought the rogan bandwagon might have ended with a good scrap but not a KO

I really really like lindsay. hes the least talked about of all our world rated/fringe fighters but i think possibly the best. he has excellent boxin skills, a good power punch and a mean cold hearted ruthless streak. fought some decent mexicans in canada which will stand to him

nothing wrong with being proud of a country that has produced how many champions and great fighters as we have with a population of about a few councils in london!!!!

You mistake me with someone else, I have never rated Appleby. When under any sort of pressure he seems to unravel with no plan B.

***PS**** I appear to have mistaken myself there :)

i think lindsay will beat appleby but nothing to do with my nationality but his greater amateur background and home advantage plus appleby is still a rough diamond who because of his natural talent has never had to fight hard

both will go onto greater things than this though, possibly world class

Nahhh, I think Paul Appleby will win by decision, even in Belfast.

He is the more versatile and well rounded fighter that can go forwards or back, inside and out, the stronger fighter and the harder puncher for my money and will be the aggressor in this fight against the counterpunching Lindsay. Lindsay's KO over Derry was the exception rather than the norm in his career, and up until then he was struggling. I just don't see the odd counterpunch being enough to keep Appleby away, Appleby is going to work on that body, pushing him back onto the ropes.

I would edge slightly in Appleby's direction..... but not too much.

He would have made mincemeat of Derry Matthews that night. It would be interesting to have seen the scorecards for that one at the time of the stoppage (Lindsay vs Matthews).

Matthews was obviously winning, the dirty ****. I'm glad he got sparked out, but the kid was winning.

His length and jab caused a lot of problems for Lindsay. I think we'll see the same here, except Appleby is going to give Lindsay a lot more opportunity to counter as he likes to work the body inside also. Should gell nicely. The way I see it Appleby has more cards up his sleeve, I can see him winning this a number of ways whereas Lindsay only does one thing.

thank **** i can actually find somewhere to discuss fights with people in a proper way with them objectively saying the plus and minus points of a fighter with people who know the sport without people saying "hes a bum" "he has a glass chin" (a professional boxer!)

lindsay was down on the score cards by 2 rounds i seem to think for some reason

cant see either stopping each other. i reckon lindsay will come out on the front foot being the challenger and at home, take the first 2. appelby gets settled wins next, give and take until 9, then lindsay uses his jab and that counter hook and take a decision

I can't really say anything about Lindsay i have only seen the Matthew's fight. I'd say he is much much better than he looked against Matthew's.

Was thinking about getting tickets for it sounds like a good fight. I think Appleby will take but as i have said i have only seen 1 of Lindsay's fight and have seen a good bit of appleby.
