"Inside MMA" co-host and UFC and longtime Pancrase veteran Rutten earned 16 percent of the vote, while Filipovic earned 13 percent.

The full results of the poll included:

    • 34% - Anderson Silva
    • 22% - Chuck Liddell
    • 16% - Bas Rutten
    • 13% - Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic
    • 7% - Wanderlei Silva
    • 5% - Other
    • 3% - Igor Vovchanchyn

This is from MMA junkie. Just lets you know the kind of idiots in MMA. Igor gets a measley 3% and Bas 16%? How many MMA fights did Bas even have  And CC at 13% with Liddell at 22%? Peoples memories are so freaking short. And i wouldnt even have Silva at number 1. As far as im concerned that honour goes to CC and dare i say it Melvin Mahoef. Has there truly been a more devastating striker in MMA history then Mahoef?

If Bas had competed more in real MMA rather than Pancrase then I think he would have made a good case for himself. Giving Chuck that number of votes is pathetic. Vovchanchyn should be higher, but I doubt too many people have seen him as he competed in the very early days of PRIDE.

Out of them I'd go with Cro Cop. With Anderson possibly in second. Manhoef would be a fair shout aswell.

Cro Crop and Manhoef are right there with their crazy power, but Anderson Silva is up there too his ridiculous accuracy.

Bas had what - two MMA fights? His technique was good but his MMA resume was stopped short. I remember holding out for the day Rutten would challenge Wanderlai but it never came.

Silva, Wanderlai, Crocop, Liddell, and Vochanchyan are all top choices. I remember in 2006 it would have been an easy choice with Crocop at the top of the list as easily the "most feared" striker in the world.

CC still wins this. It doesnt matter how short guys memories are NO ONE in MMA had more highlight reel KO's than a prime and on form CC.

    My list would be:

    Cro Cop
    Wandy - Manhoef
    Igor
    Silva
    Liddell
    Bas

All in all, its really hard to say `greatest striker in history`

Power in hands might go to Liddell
Power in kicks might go to Cro-cop
Speed in hands might go to Belfort
Speed in kicks might go to mmmm.... tough one, get back to you there
All round technique & accuracy might go to Anderson Silva
Relentless finishing might go to Wanderlei or Shogun

You see, its very hard, there is just too many dimensions to striking, each has their own preferences.

Id love to see a fighter that had the blend of all those attributes, scary ****.

Mirko in his day was lethal.

I remember seeing Bas Rutten high Kick Naruse in New Japan pro-wrestling. Was brutal.
