Lomachenko-Salido commentary excludes RJJ, surely? It all starts between the tenth and eleventh JL: Even if Lomachenko and his father believe he needs a knockout win...i'm not sure he can go for it, under these circumstances. RJ: Ha! *silence* Then, at the beginning of the eleventh, Max does his whole impassioned speech thing and it's not bad actually. MK:This is what Lomachenko wanted, to win a title as a pro and wanted to do it right away well here it is Lomachenko! You're in against a tough guy who didn't show up to lie down, he's probably beating you, he's bigger than you, he's stronger than you, he's much more experienced - these are the championship rounds, you've never been this deep into a fight. What are you going to do about this? You asked for it you got it. *silence* RJ: HAHAHAHAHA! Then, near the end of the round: RJ: Making him burn a lot of energy trying to pull those hands back... MX: That's right, I was about to say. RJ: Hahahaha. So it's the end of the eleventh and you kind of know we are in for a dramatic last round and there's quite a lot of feeling around regarding the referee and other ****. Big twelfth! Time to deal with the issues of the day. Very serious. A young man's dreams are being shattered. JL: Well, I hate to say it, but Laurence Cole has just done his normal dreadful job. RJ: HAHAHAHAHA! More ridiculous refereeing from Cole actually brings to the HBO commentary team the notion that there may be corruption in the air, something they never express live. MK: Oh my god. JL: Oh my God, what is Cole doing!? RJ: Ha! He buying Salido some time! MK: That's what it looks like! RJ: HeheheHAHAHAHAhehe! JL: Unreal. But finally, it's time for Jim to summarise what he's seen: JL: A terrific attempt at a comeback for Lomachenko and a dreadful refereeing job from Cole... RJ: HAHAHAHAHAHA... JL: ...everything we might have expected to see... RJ:...hahahahaha... JL: ...and more... RJ: Hahahaha.
Roy's very good as was Sugar Ray. I enjoy listening to both. Another that I really like is Jerry Quarry. A really perceptive ****yst imo. Lennox Lewis was truly awful though , Bobby Czyz was painful and Big George was truly eccentric with his views on occasion (although I liked him as well).
Jones was much better, smoother, more articulate. The best two ex-fighter commentators that I've heard were Antonio Tarver and Jameel McCline, though I only heard each of them once or twice. Jerry Quarry was good back in the 70's.
Jones, easily. Roy gives actual insight and ****ysis. Leonard doesn't, and never really has. Leonard is basically Captain Obvious as a commentator. "He needs to keep his hands up". "He needs to work that body." "He needs to use his jab." Well, no ****, Ray! Ya don't say! Jones goes far more in-depth.
