    Yup.. without a doubt.
Blessed with some talent, a level of athleticism, boxing brain, big punch, stiff jab, and kind to the camera as he interviews well you'd think the lazy sack of lard could make a decent weight for a bout wouldn't you?

Chucking in a vote for Dominick Guinn here.

Good power, always in decent shape, very solid chin.
    Totally wasted it.

briggs....natural athlete, charisma, big power....lazy juice fuelled farce....was a big fan and usually spoke up for him, but surrendering the titlle like he did...jeez.....putz......i really wish the guy would shed 30lb or so and come back blazing cos he has the tools...just seems he dont have the instruction manual how to use em.....

....i donjt find tyson a disapointment..he gave us some of the most exciting performances ever, he was a 'bully' fighter and was always gonna struggle with fighters who had mental fortitude.......is mikes story any sadder than carneras, bowes, leon spinks...even joe louis...it can be, for some, a crown of thorns......

Gomez being koed by Diaz doesn't have anything to do with being out of shape or not. Or are you trying to tell me Gomez was gassed after a few seconds of the first round? He just got caught and crumbled that's all there is.

    Sam Peter.

The HW division needed him to be Mike Tyson, instead he's just another David Tua.

Thats bs Briggs was not behind on all three score cards at the time of the stopage, he was actually up on one and it was a draw on the other 2. Briggs was losing but barely. Liakovich got smoked period. On the other hand Briggs was a big let down in his last fight I hope he comes back with one more huge fight before he is done.

Also as for those saying Peter needed to be like Tyson....be realistic Tyson was an amazing specimen. Peter though not my favourite fighter is still good and lets not forget he has a title shot coming and could still become great.

I'm not a huge Sam Peter fan, but isn't it a little early to be giving up on him and labelling him the biggest disappointment among the heavies? He's a young guy, probably still learning, whose only loss is to the guy most consider to be the best heavyweight out there. He hasn't even had time to be a bigger disappointment than Golota, Kirk Johnson, and some others who have been mentioned.

Yes but that wasnt including the 12th round which Briggs was clearly winning not to mention the knockdowns. That round would have been 10-7 even if Sergei had gotten up making the fight a draw on 2 cards and one to Briggs. So like I said at the time of stoppage he would not have been behind on the cards, none the less a draw wouldnt have won the belt. Briggs beat Sergei it was not in the last 10 seconds there was just under 30 for the first KD. Sultan got knocked out on to the scorers table that is about as conclusive as a fight end can be.

Yeah thats for sure^^^ but I heared something about IKE getting a parole hearing soon. He seems to think he will be back in boxing soon. Who knows if he'll be any good after the long layoff though or if he'll ever actually get out.

How far back are you talking about?

I´d say, gradually going back in time from more recent to less recent:

    1) James Toney. After beating Ruiz like he deserved and apparently winning the WBA belt, got caught for using, then after arguably beating Peter, just grew old and is now out of the picture.

    2) Audley Harrison. Enough said.

    3) Juan Carlos Gomez. Undefeated cruiserweight champ, seemed inevitable he´d get a world belt. Got KOBY1, then caught for using cocaine.

    4) Kirk Johnson. Seemed poised to beat Ruiz and be a mayor player. Got DQed then got fat.

    5) David Tua. It looked like Lennox was the only one who could beat him. He did and afterwards Tua was just never the same.

    6) Ike Ibeabuchi. Might have been a dominant undisputed champ, but went nuts.

    7) Andrew Golota. Kicked Bowes ass, but was never the same after being strached by Lewis.

    8) Riddick Bowe. Ate himself out of contention.

I would also say that Tyson was very disappointing in his last two years. Sure he was past it, but the Tyson who fought Lewis should not have lost to McBride 3 years later. Even the Tyson who lost to Williams should have KO1 McBride.

Ok but it was no shut out. Briggs was winning rounds through the fight and it was very close though very slow and dull most of the time.

The entire division is a dissapointment.
