Who was the prominent manager that was heard loud and clear stating to a group of listeners last week, " The IBO don't tell me what's going to happen, I tell the IBO what's going to happen!
I would have gotten to this sooner but I had to finish detailing Khoders car.... I mean seriously! Why the **** would I respond to **** like this??
OOHHH.. Austins under pressure.... C'mon Austin, tell the truth, what happened between you and Uncle Khoder???
Phil 'Mr IBO' Austin, with all due respect, you know I have openly endorsed the IBO previously and some of the champions being quality and the openess of picking your defences within a criteria is one that has significant merit (if not abused). However in this case and in my opinion only, the IBO have belitted their brand, ethos and worth by not enforcing a rematch ruling, and yet then turning around and giving a green light to move onto another opportunity, hence makery a mockery of your organisation and importantly the Australian boxing public. This is in no way directed at Rob Medley, good luck to him for getting a shot and you would like to assume a good payday, probably his best. But an outside looking in perception, the IBO has made itself look weak and controlled by a fighter / and or his representatives with no respect for anyone, and in this case the organisation the fighter was meant to be respresenting as a 'champion'. I don't think it's unfair of people to ask some straight up questions and you as the IBO Director for these parts (Asia-Pacific) I assume have no problem in defending. You are obviously in a better position to qualify any mis-conceptions people have/may have as oppossed to dismissing comments made. After all, this is a forum for debate.
Hi Nathan Not at all, although the OP was bollocks even you can see that! Mate this fight was made after we were approached by Grange, not once was Khoder involved in this. It was their decision not to pursue the Geale re-match and I can only guess as to why? Possibly they had a good view as to the reality of the situation, who knows? As it is, Medley is IBO intercon champ has won his last 6 fights and will be top 10 with a victory that many in here are stating is a good chance (glad I am not the only one!). I find it a little amusing that people think we are jumping to Khoder's every command and I guess if people weren't privvy to the event's they could well be justified in thinking that. The fact remains that two previous opponents that were put forward by Box were knocked back - the Argie he just fought and the Fijian. As we all know with another organisation those fighters would have magically appeared at numbver 15.. I hope this answers your questions
I appreciate your comment Phil. Fair play to Grange for pushing for a shot for Medley and in fairness, they probably did it knowing they were getting ****ed around by Mundine in relation to Geale. Geale get's first crack does he against rated opponent I assume? ****ing well should do at the very least. However, point stands, current No. 57 (does have a chance I agree too at this weight) in the world getting a shot for a world-title against a 'champion' who again has no regard for the IBO, only re-enforced by your comments that they applied for the Argy and the Fijian earlier. The IBO did have the ability in this situation to not sanction this fight and I think that's the underlining feeling people are so pissed off over. Mundine/Mundine's camp are, I think you Brits call it - 'taking the ****'.
Quite simply this fight was done after 3 weeks of consideration at Grange's bequest. Mr Mundine was not a major factor in our consideration. It will however I believe (and I will be the first to say I am wrong) give us a great fight and a close fight, because at 154 Medley is right in this one. As for where he stands, once again we at least are transparent as to where challengers stand and he meets all the criteria for an exemption under our rules. I can understand people being pissed of and that is their right, hopefully now they can understand why it was done and that we were not jumping to Choc's tune. As for posting heresay over a supposed bost by a manager which is pretty baseless well I reserve my right also to find that a wee bit pathetic
The bottom line is that Medley-Mundine fighting for a so called "world title" at 154 is a farce. It gives ZERO credibility to the IBO 154 lb title.
