IBF/WBO etc do give rankings based on regionals. Our regionals do not garner any extra points, the ranking is still based on opponents faced and beaten. The belt is handy for an exemption if you are in range. Two defences within 18 months including one against a top 50 and you are made a mandatory

So you are a mandatory by beating a top 50 fighter? Please Phil. Who isn't rated in the top 50? Paz Viejo probably is. So Medley ranked #54, beats a guy ranked in the top 50 and that means title fight? Ok, if that's the criteria...

Yes the IBF do give a rating to a pan pac belt holder. It usually means the #15 spot. But here's a BIG difference...

Say Mitrevski wins and gets slotted at #15. He will need to petition for an elimination bout with the highest available contender for the #2 spot. Should he win that (highly unlikely), he still needs to contest an eliminator with the #1 ranked guy. Then...he can fight for a belt.

So whilst the #15 world ranking might be gained fortuitously... and Wheatley is no different to you in providing opportunities for oz fighters...the fighter still has to face two top ten ranked fighters, and the #1 ranked guy before he fights for a world title.

A much tougher road, and much more logical and creditable road than the IBO road ( or should I say freeway ) to a title shot.

Can I just say though IF it took an IBO belt to get Mundine to cut off a leg and go to 154 to face Medley...I'm ALL FOR IT!!! :) :) :)

Whatever it takes for Choc to get splattered and his myth cave in like a pricked balloon...bring it on Phil baby!

Don't even ask for sanction fees, give him a freeby. I haven't cared too much about Mundines career over the past two or three years but this one gives me a tingle. LOL

My four year old daughters barbie doll has more fight in it than Mandy.

    WAR MEDLEY!!!

P.J... Your diatribe sounds credible... in theory I mean. Are you struggling in I.Q to the point of believing the I.B.F Ray Wheatley system of appointment? You make it sound like a Holy Grail of fairness. Pigs arse....

The numbers of fighters having taken that exact route to capture an IBF title is few ... very few. In most cases where the title is changed, the new title holder has been appointed via a victory in a non-mandatory defense. Im not talking about the absolute infancy of the IBF, when Fenech won the title against a nobody, Im talking the last 10 years. Check the books. In cases where massive PPVS have been involved, you'll notice anything to do with the IBF is/ has been down right shameless..

There's a book you should read.. The Auther is Ken Brady... The story line is the IBF's corruption... The corruption is based on profits from rankings being purchased...

Now, now young man.. I said nothing about corruption, I simply stated a reminder of a book that may hold several clues for others to pursue... :D

There's actually some sense amongst that Ash, but I'll still be very surprised if Mundine ever fights Geale again.

    Alternate view:

Mundine can fight Geale for a title NOW.
    Geale is improving.
Mundine won't improve from here on and is arguably in decline.
The hype still remains from Geale v Mundine I, but won't last indefinately.

    In summary:
Geale is a now or never proposition for Mundine - and based on Mundine's 'keeness' for the mandatory defence - very likely never.

Man...Mundine has already been through Geale. All this talk about titles? lol. I give him the WBA at one point of time after Ottke reitred but other than that he's looking to pick up useless titles. Which makes for useless fights.

    You are quite right Phil,
It dose'nt mean there is any credence to that type of statement but it also dose'nt take away from the fact that people, and plenty of them, are having trouble understanding how things seem to be panning out for Team Mundine.
You listen to people and you read the forums Phil.
This is all about the credibility of your own organisation.

I think he will fight Geale again mate....but Geale needs more profile....Lets hope its and OS fighter like Wright for the IBO MW title v Geale and then Geales profile will be lifted.

Think how many people would turn up to Mundine V Green in SYD or MELB.....would be 30,000 plus

Geale v Mundine would get 10,000

Its risk v reward and Geale is a risk so Mundine is looking for more reward
