Nah. How so? He was more powerful with single punches, but in terms of combination punching, no way. Meldrick threw combos faster than anyone I've seen.
Meldrick was wild with his punches..Zabs are more concentrated ..crisper..Just seems faster in my eyes
atsch On a more serious note, Tye Fields is getting overlooked in this thread. And people say the heavyweights are dead? Nah, Fields is just waking up.
RJJ threw quicker single punches, and with more power, but in terms of quickness of combinations, nobody could match Meldrick. His fast twitch muscles were on another level. He'd throw 6-8 punch super quick combos in the blink of an eye.
My coach is Tom Coulter( he coached the 88' Olympic Team he lives in Syracuse ,Ny where I do obviously) and he said hes seen Roy Jones jr. pull some incredible combos on the double end bag. like 16-20 punch combos... i don't know bout how Meldrick would do on a double end bag... but that is insane.
