Because I thought he would disgrace himself against Kessler - Kind of like my avatar, so I let it stand as a testament to my utter failure to predict the future.
People are picking Floyd but Zab Judah proved that he was faster than Floyd for 4 rounds, he was clearly getting off first and made Floyd gunshy. Only when Judah slowed down Floyd began to show his skills and superior stamina. I think Ray Lenard, Roy Jones, Meldrick Taylor, Shane Mosley
Leanord was the fastest I have seen in my lifetme, by that I mean in real time not on a film or from the past etc.... The fastest I have seen in the elite events and at the ATG level is Sugar Ray leanord. Ali was also the fastest Heavy I ever saw. Camacho also had the fastest hand and foot combo ever for me.
My personal is ssm and roy jones... but there all debatable in all reality.. just had to throw my 2 cents!
Wow, great video. I had put up a thread a few weeks ago about the fastest boxer and still believe its Camacho at 130. I wish I could get my hands on one of his 130 division fights like the Camacho vs Solis (that's speed).
If you haven't seen yet watch this from 3:30 on with the grand finale at 6:10. I counted atleast 21 punches (to fast to count all of them) in 3 seconds http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbRykf-5Zo8 oh btw this was I believe training for Tarver 3 so your seeing an old Roy. After you watch this Thread should end.
RJJ is definetly th fastest fighter whan he was in his prime plus he could finish fools off based on effective punching speed and power. Roy Jones period.
meldrick taylor flurrying looked insane. the guys hands were a blur when he let them fly. then we got the rjj's, the camacho's, the leonard's, the hearns's etc...
Good points. What is amazing though and not many people are mentioning it is that RJJ is being compared to guys that are 20-40IBS lighter than him which is unbelievable. BTW I would actually set this in 2 different catagories P4P and overall. P4P Roy without any question Overall Meldrick has a very solid case :good
Leonard is one of the fastest no doubt, but Roy, Camacho, and Meldrick Taylor were faster. Roy threw punches with intent to hurt, so seeing how fast he punched when sitting on his punches was incredible. Leonard threw extremely fast flurries for flash, but when he sat his punches he comes a notch slower than Roy and Camacho. Probaly the most underrated handspeed I've seen is Tyrone Everett, but that's probaly because he died young.
Why would a SMW/Light Heavyweight have faster handspeed than a minimumweight fighter? Isn't a fly faster than an antilope?
