I don't think Roy stayed at SMW long enough.

    Calzaghe

Even now after Calzaghe has been retired for years he is still almost running SMW and LHW.
Consider that Ward is considered the top SMW and his best win is an unwell, double vision suffering, rusty, Kessler that Calzaghe beat when prime and undefeated.
Even Bika that Calzaghe beat when prime, is a top 5 win for the current champ, beating Bika when rusty and past best, and Bika isnt even a top 10 win for Calzaghe and is now a SMW World champ which shows how weak the current era is.

    Very clearly Calzaghe

You cant always go on resumes as I would say Froch and Kessler have better resumes overall than Ward, but lost to Ward, so taking all into account including resumes and looking at SMW as a whole, I would say the top 5 at present goes something like

    Calzaghe
    Eubank
    Ottke
    Collins
    Benn

I looked after writing the above, on Boxrec to see how they had it and they had the same 5 fighters in the top 5, but in a different order except the number 1 although I didnt agree with their #6 and in the top 25 from 6-25 saw at least 7 fighters at a glance that I would have put above their #6.

Currently I would possibly have Ward who is still active at #6, though I struggle to see how he can do much at the weight for a while as their are no current top SMWs other than Froch and Kessler who were already past best when he fought them

Calzaghe is but I feel Ward isn't far away from taking that throne.

    Calzaghe by a hundred miles...

if it isn't already obvious, then you're full of bias ****.

Ward will never take that mantle. never.

he's a ****ing dud in the extreme. put a fork in him, he's done.

Accomplishments-wise, you have to go with Calzaghe right now, though with a few more solid wins Ward probably takes the spot.

Not factoring length of resume, RJJ is the best to ever fight at Super Middleweight imo.

Would love to see Ward fight abroad in a big fight and really stake a big claim.
He's so good and not a huge financial appeal at home that it makes sense.

Ward is primed to be a legend. He just needs to stay healthy. He has already surpassed Calzaghe. That's why I wouldnt mind him moving up to 175.

I noticed the usual suspects rushed into this thread to declare Joe Calz as the greatest ever. Not surprising.

    Roy Jones by a mile.

Jones isn't even in the top 5. he doesn't have the resume at all. fighters should be ranked on their achievements, not H2H. that's a different discussion.

besides, i have Joe beating Jones in a H2H fight, but Jones ducked like he did with pretty much every fighter he should have fought.
