Usman may only have a few title defences..... but so does Khabib Im not a hardcore MMA fan and barely watch it anymore, but it's not all about title defences. Some get almost instant title shots (like Anderson Silva) while others have to go through endless fights to get their shot at the strap
Khabib is another one who is overrated. The way some people like Rogan carry on like he's been the champ for 6 or 7 years and defended his crown at least 8 or 9 times. He is a great fighter but He's defended his title 3 times now he's acting a diva fighting once a year / retiring and trying to get a 40 yr old GSP down to 155. If Khabib was a true goat he would happily go up to 170 and face gsp. Very weak stuff from someone who is suppose to be this unbeatable legendary fighter. Khabib should continue fighting defend his 155 belt a few more times and go up and prove himself at 170 get a title there and beat Usman and if he wants a mega fight face GSP up there not 155, that's pathetic from Khabib.
Anderson Silva got a much deserved title shot pretty much straight away because he was already established top dog from fighting pride etc before joining UFC
Agree totally Khabib must think his pre UFC record fighting no names comes into the longevity argument or something and while he may be 1 of the GOATS of the lightweight division his quality of opposition never even attempting to fight other p4p to fighters around his division as well as of course his limited time at the top goes against him when talking about the true GOATS of the sport
The point was if you get your title shot early youre going to have the chance to string together a load of title defences. Contrast that with someone who doesnt get their title shot until they've beaten their 10th straight opponent. Both guys have the same number of successive wins but only one guy gets to chalk up loads of title defences
