Leonard fought day before era and never even bothered with 147 at that time. Hearns, Duran, and Leonard basically stayed at higher weights after day before, suggesting that they were draining in same day. Leonard would never make 130 unless he’d want to be useless in the ring and at risk of life threatening injury.
Mayweather had an amateur record of 84 wins and 8 losses and Leonard had an amateur career with a record of 165–5 and 75 KOs.
With the day before he could. And 135 without that much fuss. You have guys today draining almost 15% of their weight in water. If Leonard would do that he'd make 130 starting from 150. And he could probably trim down a bit under 150, to maybe 145, and then cut 15 lbs of water from there. Either way, he could make 130. I don't think he would, though. He wouldn't see any need to do such a hard cut, but it certainly wouldn't kill him. 135 even less so.
You're right Mayweather beat more ranked fighters and HOFs than SRL. SRL has more wins over ATG/top 100 p4p fighters of all time: SRL - Duran x 2, Hearns, Hagler and Benetiz = 5 FM - = Pacquiao, De La Hoya, JMM = 3 Of SRL's 5, 1 was aged 38 and 1 aged 32. FM' 3, included 2 wins over 36 year olds. Discounting wins over naturally smaller 35+ year olds, its 4-1 SRL. On balance their greatness is close. Depends on whether you prefer Mayweathers great quantity of wins over very good fighters and superior longevity, or SRL's greater few wins.
There’s no evidence. Show me the fighters who dropped to lower weights once day before started. I’ll wait.
The thing that annoys me about your posts is that you just can’t help but twist things. Mayweather was 38 when he beat Manny and Manny was pfp 1 other than Mayweather. You skipped that. Marquez ko’d the pfp number 1 at age 38 and at 147. You skipped that. Duran was a rolly polly shell of himself for the third match. Not remotely comparable to Pac and Marquez. You skipped that. Canelo is obviously top 100 and plenty of others could be wedged into the bottom of a top 100 list without issue. You’re well aware of that. Again, low level stuff. Now let’s demote Mayweather for fighting Berto instead of GGG in his last fight.
Yeah, it's me, stating that both fighters are ahead in different areas and are close greatness wise overall, that isnt being balanced. Not you, who has only posted in support of Mayweather and, for e.g., in your last post ignored the fact that Pacquiao won his 1st world title at Fly and Marquez moved up 2 weights to fight Mayweather, and was 3 weights below just 3 fights before. Canelo top 100 all time is arguable, I cant think of another Mayweather win aside from the 3 I already mentioned who has a credible case for being top 100 all time on a well researched list. At time of posting, SRL is winning 69 votes to 12. Given I've commented they're close and can be ranked either way, I can be reasonably accused of "twisting" things relative to the consensus view, just not in SRL's favour. I'm on the Mayweather side of the balanced, middle view on here. Not just to the extreme outlier and agenda driven extent that you are.
but how do you measure QUALITY? that is purely subjective an SRL fan like the ones you've just seen above, tend to grossly exaggerate their man's opposition while downplaying Floyd's many outstanding wins vs multiple title ATGs and upcoming future champions. People like Benitez, a disputed win over an over the hill Hagler which they'll take because there's practically nothing else. Some have even thrown in Andy the often beat Hawk Price, and Pete the unknown speedster Ranzany for this same reason. Kalule was an okay win even though he had all the agility of a mummy The Duran win was great even if he was dropping 40 + pounds within two months. and he does have one win over an upcoming Hitman and a draw vs a near shot hurtman The quality you boast of is only good for early 80s but totally lacking in the later 80s which causes some skepticism The likes of Lalonde, i felt was a bad career move. Matches this do not give the public any reason to talk about He should have stopped playing it safe and either given washed up hagler a rematch, and if successful, a couple defenses especially vs Nunn
can you really beat that unswervingly certain? when tested by the speedy Norris, was NO MATCH and even though it galls the blood, I MUST bring it up he couldnt even beat an aged Camacho and got destroyed in five
Leonard is better than Floyd in pretty much every phase of the game. Leonard beats on him just like he beat on his daddy
Mike Tyson was a year younger when he was stopped by a club fighter. As long as you say that's the true measure of Iron Mike you can say that Leonard losing to a International Hall Of Fame boxer is the measure of him.
