If you consider him an aussie, it has to be fitzsimmons.

Jimmy Carruthers has to factor into calculations.

Les Darcy is another who is right up there. Probably a little too much unfulfilled potential due to his age, but definitely right up there.

Peter Jackson is another one of the golden oldies who was considered probably the greatest for a long time.

I thought Jeff Fenech was invinvible for a long time, but in all honesty, Rose, Famechon and Carruthers would have gave him a great fight, even at his best. I probaly lean towards them for the simple fact that fenech never actually quite unified the division which is strange in hindsight.

Of the serious name you offered, no, they aren't demonstrably greater than Darchinyan, and in the case of Mundine there is actually quite a bit of distance between them.

 

Indigenous forgotten Aussie Boxing Legend David Sands would definitely be in the discussion if not for tragic circumstances. Most Aussie's at the time and many supporters of boxing in the other parts of the world had expected Sands to become World Champion.
