What do you reckon, who's the greatest fighter he could beat? We all know about Gatti, every fight was an action movie, he has the trilogy with Ward, held a couple of paper belts, inducted into the HOF. These days he's usually mentioned as in "if Gatti is HOF then he should be too" So I figured, let's give him some love. Who's the greatest guy you favour him to beat. I'm gonna put myself out there and go for Alfredo Escalara.
Hmm, tough one. I tend to think he'd beat the Vargas/Salido/Muira crop. Although maybe not, those would all be give and take wars.
130 was his best weight. He could box fairly well when he concentrated on it at that weight. Id say the guys he beat at that weight Gabriel Ruelas and Tracy Patterson were close to his ceiling. Was Escalera better than those two? Hard to say. I think him and Escalera is a competitive matchup.
Maybe an old Azumah Nelson from the 1996-97 time that Gatti held the IBF 130 title and Nelson held the WBC version.
