Good shout, he was unlucky not to win the Straw weight title from Vonneprin Sor Vonnepringym though, the Thai came in 1/2lb over the weight and had to forfeit his title on the scales, Snith of course, won a wide decision and dropped the lanky Thai in every round.

Heartbreaking stuff, a real nearly man. Led to him having depression and living with his pigeon's in his backyard.

 

Indeed, but as we know he used it to his advantage. He famously locked himself in the cage with the pidgeons and would angry them by stamping his feet. He honed his upper body movement and defensive reflexes by avoiding their wild rushes.

He faced Frenchman Charles 'Le Pidgeon' Picard for the EBC Lightweight title shortly afterwards and won 4 rounds without throwing punches. Snith was a phenom, even in his fifties.

 

Most definitely Flea, The defensive training was unique and i'd love someone like Frankie Gavin to adopt this style of training.

Yep he sold a few of his finest pigeons to a young Tyson. He really admired Tyson and Tyson used the pigeon technique and took it one step further and placed bits of bread under his headband as he trained and used to slip the Pigeon's as they came in. The Pigeon's were often attributed to Tyson's early success. Key sparring partners prior to the Berbick bout..
