As long as you keep your admiration and facts straight, it even OK to appreciate what Ricky Hatton brought to the game. :yep But once you start over reaching and calling Slappy an ATG and all that crap, then there's gonna be trouble.

I havent seen the Kessler fight but i can imagine Calzaghe slapping away effectevly. Definitely in the Lacey fight, it was just non stop and he broke Lacey.
    He gave Hopkins trouble.

Why is Chris Byrd all the sudden considered a slapper? He punched mostly with correct form with the exception of the open glove jab bull**** he got away with often. Lacking KO power is not the same as slapping. There are some fighters who punch correctly but lack KO power. In addition to Byrd, Willie Pep, Joey Maxim, and Paulie Malignaggi come to mind(Maglinaggi also does that annoying open gloved jab too like Byrd) Slapping is not landing with the knuckles and cuffing the opponent with the underside of the gloves. It's almost impossible to generate real power when that surface of the hand is delivering it(not to mention that you sacrifice the proper arm/shoulder alignment needed to generate power in order to throw slaps)

There are fighters who punch correctly but lack power. How about naming fighters who slap people cold? Fighters who have thunder slaps? ***** slap bombs? Now there's a challenge for you...

As a general rule, if a fighter has to make a big grunt every time he throws a punch, it's because he can't punch...It also means he hasn't mastered the 'slap' technique...Byrd used the grunt method...

There truly is only one GOAT slapper and it's not Byrd...

OMG the guy in the multi-colored shorts CANNOT PUNCH! There are Silver Gloves kids under 100 lbs that can punch with more authority than that guy. The guy in red trunks' corner should have told him at some point "The only way this guy hurts you is if he runs into you with his head! If he stands there exchange and you'll do more damage!" But strangely he was freezing for the guy's cutesy feints and "Look ma, I'm RJJ!" move like he was getting caught with stinging shots....well I guess glove slap love taps must her too huh
