not quite sure how to take that. lol i'm surpised no one has pulled me up about my hagler-jones prediction yet. those who are familiar with hagler's record would understand. that man in your avatar is the reason i started watching this sport. :thumbsup
But he did in countless other fights. He had to switch from his normal style due to Hearns's height, range, and terrific skills from the outside. Hearns was great at long-range, outboxing Leonard for much of their WW fight, and also outboxing master-boxer Wilfred Benitez at long range. So Hagler turned into a balls-to-the-wall attacker rather than his usual boxing style. Hagler in the Hearns fight is one of the greatest displays of a fighter effectively switching from his usual style. He didn't do it against any scrub, he did it against an ATG in Hearns. That fight totally screwed up people's perceptions of Hagler's style, much like the Duran rematch and Hagler fight making too many people think that Leonard was always some sort of fleet-footer dancer, even though he spent most of his time fighting flat-footed.
I always wonder how effective Hagler would have been against Jones- would he have been chasing him all night?
um sorry, but didn't Whitaker and Hagler lose to some bums? where as the greatest. Joe Calzaghe, didn't. Next.
