Yep, class contests. I imagine they're probably two of the best between top operators from the last era, but I won't really know for about ten years :nut

Certainly feel important, especially when you consider the consensus perception of both in their time. I don't really like ranking fighters until they're done to be honest, but I reckon Pac is something special. I think he has some good H2H properties at from 126 to 147, but I don't think he's unbeatable and I don't think he matches up well with everyone.

One result I'm certain of: Pac KO1 Shibata

I think marquez's legend will increase quite a bit when people watch more of his early fights and realise he spent quite a time as the premiere featherweight.

I don't know that he did. Naz, Barrera, Pac. And then they all scrambled. When did JMM dominate the division? He was a quality feather, but clearly achieved his best success in recent years displaying his incredible array of punches against bigger opponent, his dwindling legs causing him to punch out amazing victories against bigger, younger opponents whilst, IMO, beating Pac @ 130 before his ascent to being the no.1 Lightweight.

And yet he's still behind MAB and Morales, apparently.

I believe after pac left up until he left.

I'd have to double check dates etc but that's from top of my head.

I aired with naz-mab-pac ruling but after pac left jmm was the standout fw imo.

Plus he easily has the greatest fw resume in recent times.

His stint at sfw was ok I suppose, he edged mab and lost a close fight to pac.

His run at lw has been legacy sealing.

I'd love it if he capped off his career by beating pac at ww :good

As I say, I felt he beat Pac at 130. He's got little chance this weekend, he's getting smashed IMO.

JMM fought in this FW eras version of the Murderers Row, the avoided ones, Morales/Hamed/MAB didn't want anything to do with him or the rest of those FW contenders. He's the Charles Burley of today, Hamed/MAB/Pac/Morales had their Robinson-Lamotta thing going on, except this version of Burley eventually got his shot at his Robinson.

(I'm not saying any are quite in that class)

The question is how much have the fighters changed since 08? Was Pac drained in 08/04? Has Pac's defence and movement improved much? (1 handed Cotto was landing at around 30-40% connect I believe) Has his right improved that much? (And is that an advantage?) Has Pac's stamina improved at 147? Marquez is still by far the better technician and still much smarter. Whether his reactions have left him and if the added weight slows him are other factors

Pac mixes his kicks up nicely with his punches. Sneaky.

Pacquiao has always hurt him early in those two fights.

Now that he is much bigger and stronger, and probably slightly better technically I think he will stop Marquez early.
