Don't get me wrong, I hated Khan with a fury during his prime. A fury I'd not had since MAB beat Hamed.

But as much as I seriously disliked him (I use the term hate in terms of fanboyism, I didn't actually dislike him personally) I have the sense he somewhat under achieved.

I mean the Peterson fight, controversial and Lamont failed the tests for the rematch, so we can forgive that. The Garcia loss and Canelo loss he looked good until the stoppage. Crawford loss was him past his best, no biggie.

From 09-16 he was a very good fighter though, I just can't decide how good he was.

So what say you Classic, who's the greatest WW in history you'd favour Khan over?

I’d give him a chance against guys like Milton Mccrory, Marlon Starling and Mark Breland with no real certainty. But no chance against any top tier greats.

This is my initial thinking. I just feel at some point he gets banged out.

I think I'd favour him over Corey Spinks but I'm not so sure on that.

If Khan had been gifted with an iron chin, he would have been a very difficult guy to beat.

That is your biggest clue in answering this question!

I think he'd have a decent shot against Carlos Palomino.

Amir had it all other than that wretched chin. His heart wrote cheques his chin just couldn't cash. Sadly, I'd favour any banger against him. You just know that, at some point, because he loves to fight, he's going to come down off his toes and start digging. That's when it all goes wrong.
Colin Jones would be his worst nightmare !

With the greatest respect I was quite taken aback by the suggestion he'd beat a marlon starling or breland.

It is easy to lionise the Honeyghan fight Starling when actually moochie was inconsistent in fights with lesser guys like ozaki & chung. But I think hed be especially up for an amir khan....moochie was always up for upsetting prospects or olympians,he felt in his bitter mind had an easier ride.

Amir as lufcrazy said ...up until crawford was never outboxed cleanly by anyone....he had lots of close fights...canelo and garcia were being outspeeded and outjabbed in a way no one had done to them up to that stage (floyd excluded)but they did see a mistake in khan rushing in than boom knockout..i suppose if you end up being checkmated like that so suddenly despite playing great chess for 20 minutes it is,what it is......

Khan is one of the very bravest hearted fighters ive ever seen and one of the fastest...he must have a record for going down very heavy and fighting on to win..but even with a concrete chin....his poor boxing IQ and costly defensive lapses would mean defeats at the highest level the level below elite...a real shame...even with the kind of chin he actually has...he never really developed his IQ and skills fully....he thought too much of himself after 2008...and chose roach and virgil seemingly because they were with pac & ward and he thought he was their level.

A shame he kept that amateurish 1-2 style and never really learned to body punch fully or learn to fight to a high degree standing still...he wasted a lot of energy for years....it catches up with you...

His best win over a name ww are judah ,maidana and devon who all were really 140 guys.

Breland kayoes amir in 3-4 despite his heart.

Most of khans best 140-147 wins were over non punchers.....

I can see him beating mcrory...but cos of his chin...i can see colin jones and lloyd honeyghan knocking him out for a 20 count.....mayorga catches him...forgetabout ike quartey...

The best guys at 147 he beats in ascending order......six heads lewis...vernon forrest....mcrory

I'm not sure he can avoid the right hand of Forrest. Ever fighter he ever faced had to take a flush right hand at some point in the fight, Khan can't withstand it.

I have my doubts too luf against forrest..the only thing that made me give the benefit of the doubt before your pointing this out is ...forrest didnt like mayorga rushing him...sure khans rushes are vastly different...plus mayorga,at that stage seemed to have e a iron chin (so it seemed) wheras khan..... doesnt.....thus im prepared to change my opinion on it.

Yeah I have him a chance against those guys but wouldn’t necessarily favor him.
