Do people read? They're dismissing the fact that Inoue obliterated Jamie in less than 10 punches landed.

Yeah but that fight was nearly 7 years ago. I’m sure the Linares that fought Loma would destroy DeMarco now as would Loma would destroy Salido now.

Of course, I’m not taking absolutely anything away from Inoue as he is a f*cking monster and it was a WTF moment. He’s also been one of my favorite fighters for a while. But for the Linares loss, especially when Linares was considered a good competition for Garcia, it was a hell of a win for Loma. Still rooting for Linares to bounce back right away but I can’t say I feel the same for McDonnell...

Linares the better scalp, JMD the better performance.

That said, Inoue can easily overtake Loma (and TC) on a p4p ranking by winning the Super Series.

Salido and DeMarco are shot now. Linares is about the same. Loma still has never beaten a good pressure fighter.

    Going by this forum

35 picked Loma, 0 picked Linares
29 picked Naoya, 2 picked McDonnell

So by that logic McDonnell is a better scalp as at least 2 people thought he could pull off the upset. No one on this forum backed Linares. :deal:

McDonnell looked like he was sick at the weigh in. He rehydrated 25 pounds, more than 20% of his weight which is almost unheard of. Draining so much weight is life threatening.

Linares was big, highly skilled, hard punching, well schooled, experienced at world level, a legitimate champion, etc.

    McDonnell was big.

Yeah but people picking Loma were like "Hey this could be a difficult fight for Loma", at least a sizable contingent.

People picking Naoya were like "Naoya's gonna KO this dude" and no one was surprised when he did. To be honest I thought McD would do better than he did, but not surprised he folded facing an elite guy.

I heard Salido did the same thing against Loma. I heard it was an excuse for Loma losing rather than knocking him out after ten punches.

I was personally more impressed by the Linares performance. A far more complete and multi-faceted performance where Lomo had to go through the gears and tactics against a seasoned pro who was ready to fight.
