I don't understand how that makes him especially limited. Barrera was an amazing fighter who could brawl or box and evolved as he aged. Pacquiao was a force of nature threshing machine, he blitzed Morales twice as well.
I think Tito too. IMO Wright, BHop, ODLH outclassed him, no ATG fighter should be outclassed by that many boxers.
I don't even think it's a negative to say Tito. He was a one-dimensional fighter, a limited fighter, but still a magnificent welterweight. You had to be some welter to beat Tito there, because his one dimension was that good. I see what you're saying. He wasn't versatile or adaptable. Still brilliant, but undoubtedly limited IMO. Someone earlier suggested Chavez. It's the same argument for him as Tito. Doesn't make him any less great though. Some might even say Arguello by the same token? Seriously great fighter, but he was limited as a boxer IMO.
You cannot have a limited ATG.. They do not go together. The whole point of being ATG is being something special.
Arguello is my favourite puncher ever. His power and technique were perfect, his potency to the head and body almost peerless. However, I do understand someone who thinks he was limited. Perhaps to bring him up in a discussion of the most limited ATG of all is a bit much on reflection as he did demonstrate some top-class skills at times, but I do understand the reasoning that he was limited. Sugar Ray Leonard in terms of versatility he was not.
Boxers and movers did get him in trouble sometimes but most limited? He has beaten way too many good fighters to insult him like that. Even Marciano who I respect tremendously and think is one of the 5 greatest heavyweights ever is more limited than Arguello was. The only real weakeness he has was his speed.
The two are sort of mutually exclusive. Its probably better to ask 'who were the best really limited fighters ever', or somethng like that.
Rocky Marciano is NOT the definitive choice. He's got defensive skills you wouldn't normally see if you just watched him plainly. Even at his advanced age after retirement, Ali found it was hard to hit him. Every fighter Marciano fought always said that about him. He's harder to hit than what they saw of him outside the ring. Power and deceptive defense makes him not limited. He's even a counterpuncher if you look at his tapes.
he was behind in some of his fights before he got the knockouts Olivares and Escalera are 2 guys who were beating him before he ko'd them , H2H if he was put in with a mayweather or sweet pea i could see him getting schooled
