Jeff Lacey Any YANK fighter before facing a KLITSCHKO and then after the brutal KO loss, they complain that the HW division has never been weaker blah blah all the good athletes are in other sports now blah blah
David Tua. Got schooled by Lewis and Byrd. Struggled with fighters like Jeff Wooden and David Izon. And people talk about him like he's an ATG, if he had stayed on the 224-230lb mark then he may of actually achieved something.
That's actually a myth. The Reid fight showed what Calzaghe's level was, anything above that and he would have been exposed. Frank knew it and Calzaghe himself knew it, which is why they BOTH chose the career path they did. It's no coincidence that Calzaghe miraculously got over his fear of flying when Hopkins and Jones were both old and stared losing.
All time and by the general boxing community (not on here), it's still Dempsey. He's so overrated that tons of people now underrate him just to try and restore balance.
For starters Reid was a good fighter. Also Calzaghe went on to defeat fighters better than Reid. It's not as if he lost when he stepped up - he WON. Lots of fighters have poor performances against lesser opponents. Hopkins had never lost above middleweight when Joe took him on. And two of his best five wins come after Joe. He has only lost once since Calzaghe. If Hopkins had not turned Joe down in 2002/03 all the 'old age' crap would be irreverent.
