Taking a backward step by choice would be Morales in Round 9 of the second fight with Pacquiao.

Cotto's fight with Torres was on the level of Gatti's 2 most exciting fights: Robinson I and Ward I.

Chavez had plenty of skills. Gatti may have not been the most skilled or gifted but he wasn't exactly devoid of skills, either.
