I cant find who is actually to blame for the fight stalling, I keep seeing conflicting reports. Is Hearn the problem, does AJ really want it or is it still a bluff by team Wilder with stuff in contracts or vice versa ?? I thought 50,000,000 if legit would smooth any problems if its a 1 fight deal..
Wilder and his management. They won't face a live body until they are FORCED to, because the moment Wilder faces a top level guy like Joshua, his glass jaw will get shattered and his bogus career will be exposed.
This. I honestly believe Joshua would've came to America and took the $50 million offer along with the PPV revenue to fight Wilder, but Joshua most likely out of respect for Hearn won't fight Wilder until Hearn feels it's the right time.
If Wilder believes: *50-50 is fair *it's to be in the US *ANYONE has to agree to fight before seeing conditions... He's clearly the problem. The again, maybe it's Finkel. Shelly allowed him to avoid top fighters even after he won title, citing 'not ready'...
OR... Finkel could have allowed Hearns to see this contract detailing the 50 mill w/o insisting they agree in 24 hours, sight unseen.
You think Hearn has that kind of control over Joshua at this stage?? I would've thought Joshua would force it behind closed doors, put his foot down. When Joshua said yes, then turned round and said it has to be in the UK I thought nah you cant say that if they are putting down the money, they obviously want that advantage in the deal, that's a given and only fair. If what your saying is true, then its a duck isn't it on AJ's part??
I blame Joshua for muddying the waters with his $50 mill and I'll take the fight statement, had it not been for that it would of been much clearer who is too blame, but he opened his mouth when he shouldn't have and gave Wilder and his team an opening to call his bluff and make him look bad. This is why a good promoter makes a difference, Hearn would of never made such a silly PR mistake. But if you look past Joshua gaff and the $50 mill offer which they refused to send a contract for, refused to meet for and which was initially only valid for 24hrs and never proved there were the funds for, then it's clear to most that it's Wilder's team that have been the ones being reticent about their true intentions. 1 - They agreed to all Joshua/Hearns terms and asked for a contract. 2 - Once contract was received they sat on it for 4 weeks before agreeing to the fight and all it's terms, but wanted two things clarified first. Why the delay? Perhaps they knew the WBA were pressuring for the mandatory from Povetkin. 3 - Once agreeing to the terms they waited another week or so before sending a request for these clarifications, which when Hearn was finally told was for the date and venue. Again why the delay? 4 - Hearn clarifies because of the late response from Wilder's team a number of weeks after the contract was sent a fight in Sept was no longer possible as Canelo/GGG had been confirmed and US TV revenue would be greatly reduced should it happen in Sept. 5 - Then Wilder refuses the later date and also suddenly changes his mind about the rematch clause, despite agreeing to this. 6 - Wilder and his team have never clarified why April 2019 is impossible, there is no good reason for it not to happen then, unless of course they never wanted it to happen at all. Hearn gave a reason for changing the date but apparently giving a reason for not accepting the new date is too much for Wilder. 7 - WBA orders Povetkin fight, so an earlier date is definitely not possible, Wilder calls a duck despite it's he who is refusing to sign. 8 - Wilder now wants 50/50 knowing he can't come up with a good excuse for not accepting April 2019 if asked by the media so must create another reason why the fight will not happen.
I'm leaning Wilder right now. And I've blamed AJ in the past; I've got no axe to grind, call it as I see it. But Hearn saying he sent a contract and heard nothing back for a full week, all the while Wilders camp knows AJAhas to commit to Povetkin or Wilder asap or lose a belt. That rings true and suggests either gamesmanship or amatuer behavior from Wilders camp.
Wilder has a contract in his possession with terms he agreed to, so why doesn’t he sign it? You only have to look at their respective records to understand where the problem lies.
Both. When the fight is meant to be it will be made. I do know that Floyd was the reason the Manny fight was not made.
I can only assume "Jessica" Wilder is getting her hair done on April the 19th as well as getting her nails, can't possibly fight then, lmao.
Joshua and Hearn wanted Wilder to take the knee given their relative buying power. Wilder and Finkel refused and responded with aggression. Since then, Wilder and Finkel haven't made reconciliation noises required in the circumstances and Hearn and Joshua seem to have taken it all a bit more personally than I expected. I blame Wilder. Their opening attitude was absolutely preposterous if they wanted the fight (I think they did and they were). But you can make a case that Hearns' implied demand of fealty was excessive and he should have got on with business.
