First off, if there is a second fight, I don’t see it being much different from the first. And with that being said, nothings changed from a negotiating standpoint. Canelo is still the man at 168, Bivol is still holding the same belt at 175, this is still just a guy moving up to test himself. Sounds like Bivol is trying to play hardball and leverage that W to have himself a new career high payday. But let’s say Canelo doesn’t want the fight after all, what’s Bivol gonna do? Fight a much more dangerous opponent for probably a lot less money in Artur, because that’s the only other good fight for him. And Canelos only other good option is Benavidez………maybe Charlo. Hopefully the second fight doesn’t happen next.
I don't even care because I really don't want to see that fight. Anybody who knows boxing knows Canelo can't win that fight.
^This^ a second fight is completely pointless, bring on Benavidez vs Canelo and Beterbiev vs Bivol instead.
Bivol should get a higher split than in the first fight if the first fight's purse was fair as his fame and the public's interest in the two of them fighting has grown immensely.
You'd have to be a submissive dog to think Canelo isn't the problem here. There are probably other terms besides the money too, possibly weight related. Bivol's team said after the fight that next time things would have to be different, meaning they were accepting poor terms to get the fight, like so many others.
Nobody wants a rematch, just gets in the way of Bivol vs Beterbiev and Canelo vs Benavidez, so what blame is there to be assigned?
It was 7-5 on all 3 judges scorecards. You don't think Canelo could do a little better and the Judges will award him the victor ?
I had Canelo winning 2 rounds against Bivol, 7-5 is terrible and doesn't reflect how one sided it actually was during the fight. Canelo can only win a robbery, but that would most likely be the end of his career if that was to happen.
Its not even competitive. Id rather see bivol benevidez & canelo beterbiev with the winners fighting.
