You can't offer the same terms when you are the one who's supposedly chasing the rematch to redeem yourself. Yes Canelo is the big draw but his last fight didn't exactly sell as well as expected and even Mayweather when rematching Maidana offered him a little bit more 2nd time round and we all know how Mayweather liked to dictate terms and minimise opponents purses. Even if it was 5% more than last time I'd say that was a fair split but the exact same terms despite going into the rematch as the loser, nah that to me says Canelo isn't serious about a rematch.
So Bivol whoops the P4P king on the heavily stacked deck of Clenelo's adopted backyard, very nearly gets robbed, earns himself a place in the P4P top 10, then in his next fight he whoops Zurdo just as easily as he did Clenelo but he doesn't deserve a bigger cut in the rematch which Clenelo needs not him and he should just bow to Clenelo's every demand again? Are you kidding me?
I think it is a bit stupid, but yes, if he's complaining about the split, then it looks like so. As mono has said, nothing has actually changed after the first fight. Plus canelo has several decent options, and bivol has only 1 (that will bring him less money and way more risk).
Canelo, of course - not only does he want undeserved money after being totally dominated, but he doesn't want the fight to be at the weight that Bivol is offering because the ginger knows he'll still lose, but he'll also lose the titles.
Neither. It's not a fight I want to see. Canelo should fight Benavidez, and Bivol should fight Beterbiev.
First of all, there was a rematch clause in the contract. GGG 3 took preference though and that was fight made instead of a rematch. If Bivol wants different terms, if they want more $$ I'm sure that can be arranged. What was the split the first time anyway? If Bivol wants 5% more, let him have it. If that's the problem then I don't see why that would be a problem. Canelo just wants to fight, Bivol just wants to come up with excuses to not make the fight. To anyone who voted for Canelo in this poll, how exactly is Canelo to blame? Be specific.
I like this question/thread for one reason. Not so much for "Who" but for the fact that it asks the question of 'blame'. FACT is all the time the greats will say IF the fighter wants the fight it happens. Andrea Ward always comes to mind when this pops up. Today we know Biz ($$$$) takes precedent more than ever as the parasites rule boxing more than ever, but if the fighter wants it, it still happens. The money is so huge at the top now that counting your dough is surely a thing but with say Spence/Crawford time goes by till one can see and believe in an advantage with age and time being to their advantage; the art of war if you like. But still when they want the fight it happens. Frank Warren spills this when back pedaling on Fury more than once so it is still true you can be sure. So who doesn't want the fight>>>? Canelo the roid padded record fighter doesn't want the fight and will get paid to go elsewhere until he cant. The truly skilled like Bivol always have to toil away in the wings because they get ducked by the cons of the game since forever, while it is true Bivol is in a division that lacks the star/gate power of others and Canelo was fool enough to give him the spotlight he deserved. Because a cash cow is still a cow to be milked....
Bivol is a horrible style matchup for Canelo. He's a synthesis of everything that bothers Saul. If I were Bivol I'd try to make the fight because stylistically he has a big advantage. But I guess that maybe he wants to get paid well this time ...
It was indeed 7-5 on all 3 judges scorecards. But in. the real world it was closer to 10-2. Undoubtedly, if Canelo managed to pick up four rounds (and that would be a DEFINITE improvement on last time), he could pick up a decision from the 'judges.' After all, he only needed four against GGG.
