you do realize that this statement is categorically false. you may have seen rjj as the recognized champion, but the truth of the mattwr is the man who beat the champion virgil hill was dm. not rjj. and although the only belt dm held was the wbo, the ones that rjj held some were stripped from dm., and contrary to your belief, rj never beat a rightful champion at lhw

get your facts straight before making statements

Lineage doesn't mean ****. Roy Jones easily overshadowed Michalczewski in every area at LHW. All the belts ( even the obscure ones ) that Roy won he held onto until he moved up to HW. In other words.. while Jones was running rampant through the entire division Dariusz was just holding onto some meaningless lineage.. sort've how Tyson was taking names, kicking ass, and collecting belts throughout the whole division while Spinks sat on his recognition as linear champ.

Plus what they fail to tell you is that NONE of them was actaully the linel champ. Who beat Micheal Spinks??? That was the last link in the lineage. No other fighter became undisputed champ until jones did it. Hill was never undisputed nor was DM. Dm chumped out and was stripped of the WBA title for not fighting Lou Del Valle, he gave up of the IBF because he wasnt willing to make a fight with then bad boy Will Taylor. Jones then picked up the belts by fighting the guys that DM wouldnt, or the guy that beat the guy that DM wouldnt fight.

My statement isn't false, RJJ was considered to be the champ by the vast majority of media, boxing organizations (except the WBO) and most important boxing fans. Of course there are some few people who didn't consider him to be the champ, like you, but generally he was considered to be the champ. Now who really was the champ might be debatable, there were about 15 threads here about that already, and I think there will never be a clear answer to that question since they never fought each other. I consider RJJ to be the champ since he dominated the division and beat the overall better competition. The argument of RJJ mostly beating bums isn't valid here since DM did the same.

And of course I saw DM beat Virgil Hill for the belts, but he only chose to defend the WBO belt. That linear champ thing isn't valid in this case, by your logic Zsolt Erdei would be the 'true', linear champ at LHW right now.

Both to blame... I mean both Roy Jones and Universum Box-Promotion. But you have to see that both were big stars in their boxing region, so both would've had to take a big risk to leave the region (shame on them for not taking the risk) and the problem was that Jones never wanted to travel to Germany while Michalczewki's name wasn't a big name enough for HBO to put down the serious money...

I mean Dariusz made really good money in Europe (he even had a lot, I mean a LOT more loyas, paying fans) and to take the risk they would've had to offer a very serious amount of money no opponent of Roy Jones has ever made before. It was the main problem, because if they would've been able to put down let's say 15 million for the whole fight, Roy still would've wanted 12 while I'm pretty sure that Darisz would've wanted at least 7 or maybe a lot more. Roy never was a good partner in 2 Star fights, it was always Roy who made the money his opponents made 30% at most...

Of course Jones was considered no1 while Dariusz was the lineal champ and the first to unify (all titles but the WBC) so neither become THE dominant force in LHW while both were dominating the same competition.

It's a big shame that we missed this great fight and while I've always considered myself as a Roy fan and I know that after the Ruiz fight Roy wasn't 100% anymore, but I'm also absoultely sure that Dariusz would've given Jones very serious problems. Michalczewski was very big (he even won a title at CW, very few remember that), very stong phisically, good jab, serious power, good pressure and Tarver showed that Jones can be abused at the ropes and Dariusz could've done that 100 times better. My pick was always Jones on points but until Tarver, Roy never met a big, strong, good pressure type fighter and Dariusz was also quicker, more skilled and busier than Antonio...

Not only that, but even the competition that Roy and Dariusz BOTH fought Roy beat more impressively.

You are a moron arent ya.

He chumped out? More like he was stripped for displaying one belt next to the other right after winning it.And the other belt they wanted him to defend 1 ****ing month after he won it.

Why make **** up and run with it?

The IBF did so a few weeks later, when Michalczewski refused to defend his title against mandatory challenger

I don't need to browse boxred, because I actually watches all of Dariusz' fights in his prime, I was there for a few of them. Griffin gave a prime RJJ more of a fight than anybody during Roy's prime in the first fight. Hill was a good champ as well, clear wins over those fighters mean something, as does a 48:0 streak and a high KO percentage.

No that is some bullsh*t. Dm knew before he signed to fight hill that he would have to next fight DelValle. And with DelValle saying that Kohls and UBP paying him step aside money for the fight between Dm and Hill to take place. As far as the other belt he actually lost the belt in the courtroom when Will Taylor won an injuction that prevented DM from defending the title vs anyone other then Him. STOP making **** up. Go check out cyber box which is the home of the Lineal title. And it will clearly state that DM GAVE up and wasnt stripped. The guy was a chump and wouldnt fight dangerous fighters in order to keep the belts. Its really shouldnt be something that is debated since he didnt fight top guys. Only second tier Jones leftovers.

Who would double taxed in this situation? I learned if an athlete fights or plays basketball for a foreign team gets taxed by both countries so RJJ probably didn't see it worth his while unless the money was guaranteed and it may be same for DM?
