It says he was stripped EVERYWHERE else but your 1 article. The MOST IMPORTANT part is being left out. They forced him to defend his title 30 days after winning it. Show me 25 of your articles and i will show you 25 of mine..... BTW you are showing me a article from 1 writer.Give me more..
I blame DM for the most part. Everyone, and I mean everyone, knows you go to the US to fight the best. DM was happy being the RJJ of Europe, making big paydays there. He had his chance.
- The fight was originally planned for April 5, but was postponed first to April 19 ("to get an appropriate site" according to IBF president Robert W. Lee), then moved again to June 13. - On March 7, 1997, a federal judge Dickinson R. Debevoise of U.S. District Court at Newark, N.M., ruled that the IBF must give its leading light heavyweight contender a title shot by July 19 or face a fine because it harmed the fighter by breaking its own rules. Under the ruling, No. 1 contender This content is protected had to fight the winner of the April 19 match between IBF champion Virgil Hill and WBO champion Dariusz Michalczewski within 90 days of the bout. - On May 10, 1997, words of IBF president Robert Lee were reported in the press, that the IBF stripped Hill of his title because "we had to follow the order of the court," which had ordered that Guthrie must get an IBF title fight by July 19. (Sources: The Washington Times, May 10, 1997; The Washington Post, May 10, 1997; St. Petersburg Times, May 10, 1997; Houston Chronicle, May 11, 1997; Denver Rocky Mountain News, May 11, 1997; Los Angeles Daily News, May 12, 1997) - After the fight it was reported that Michalczewski's promoter This content is protected said: "Guthrie is Don King's man and we don't want to do any business with him." Kohl has said he is hoping an arrangement on juggling title defences can be worked out with the WBO and WBA. (Sources: Glasgow Sunday Mail, June 15, 1997; The People, June 15, 1997) - Thus, the IBF title was declared vacant. - Immediately after this fight, Michalczewski also was stripped by the WBA for holding the WBO belt together with the WBA belt. really did you check cyber box??? http://www.cyberboxingzone.com/boxing/zewskrec.htm Im pretty sure that the word relinquished dont mean stripped
Remember, it was 'the Tiger' who first won his WBO title in September of 1994 with a 12-round decision over Leeonzer Barber. Then after making nine successful defenses, he would take on Virgil Hill (who held the WBA and IBF belts after downing Henry Maske) in a unification tilt in November of 1996. He would soundly defeat 'Quicksilver' Hill in June of 1997 to hold the WBO, IBF and WBA belts simultaneously. Michalczewski would have those belts for about 15 minutes before the machinations and the manuverings of the sanctioning bodies took over. Michalczewski, would be stripped by the WBA for having a WBO title belt and the IBF's top contender William Guthrie won a lawsuit requiring him to get a shot at the IBF title within 30 days. Michalczewski would quickly drop the IBF belt like a hot potato.
You cats can believe what you want. Truth is DM knew going into the fight with Hill that they would have to fight Lou DelValle if he won. As I stated before, Lou was paid step aside money so that the fight between Hill and DM could take place. Before I sign off on this because this is an argument that has been 10 years and its really getting to the point of who really cares, I will say this. Its one thing to give up a title to fight for big paydays vs top fighters. DM gave up titles so he didnt have to fight average fighters so he could fight BUMS. I dont think that anyone would argue that guys like Piper Zenner and Magi(who I ever even heard of) were worthy guys for DM to be fighting, at a time that he was calling himself the best Lt heavyweight in the world. Not when all he had to do was fight Lou DelValle, and Guthie to keep his belts, which in turn would have forced a fight with Jones. I think that DM was a manufactured champion. The guy wouldnt fight ANYONE. DelValle would have beat him I have no doubt in by mind of that, and I think that Kohl and DM felt that way as well. For years I have heard fans bash Jones for the guys that he fought but what about the guys that DM fought??? Its a horrible resume which is the reason that NO ONE thinks much of him now, and in a few more years he will be a forgotten fighter outside of Poland and Germany. While Jones will go down as one of the greatest of all times. Go figure:hi:
theirs alot of nonsense being spoken here.Darius was past his prime and onto something like 20 plus title defences which as you can imagine takes something out of a man when losing that fight to Gonzalez.Jones got sparked by Johnson.Prime DM was a physically powerful imposing somewhat methodical fighter who by my reckoning had one of the best jabs of the 90's.His jab was'nt just a range finder but a powerful punch in itself which busted up and took out many an opponent. He also possesed a powerful quick counter right hand. The most impressive aspect of his style, was his ability to continually back his opponents up.Anyone thats sparred or fought knows theirs nothing more dispiriting and deliberating for a fighter than continually backing up defensively despite throwing their best shots.Prime Chavez had that same ability .DM broke many fighters psycologically because of this alone.Even fast fighters like Griffin and Hill could'nt cope with his pressure .I would give DM a decent shot at knocking Jones out who would be boxing almost defensively the entire fight. If he can land a big right while backing Jones up then in hindsight who knows.I would give Jones the edge in speed, rythm and boxing smarts but theirs little doubt that DM's the pysically stronger more imposing fighter of the two,so their respective strenghs balance up well.It would have been a great clash of styles and personalities if this fight did come off.
So far you have proven NOTHING and are simply going by what you think. He fought Hill yet was scared of Del Valle....please. You told me you could show me 25 more articles...show me 5.
