Has anybody heard who's going to be training Holyfield for his fight against the Russian giant? One possible trainer was Tommy Brooks?
ok for those who know boxing as i do, and i'm not a pro by the way... this is how it's goin to play out, to be brief... Valuev is goin to win a BORING 12 round unanimous decision against a 5,000 year old corpse. (unless of course Valuev gets a knock out). the WBA has produced the most BORING fights over the years. check it... Ruiz vs Toney, Valuev vs Ruiz, Ruiz vs Cheagav, Cheagav vs Valuev etc !!!!!!!!!!!!!! BORING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND NOW IT'S GOIN TO BE Valuev vs Cheagav again !!!!!!! BORING !!!!!!!
I guess it doesn't matter who trains him. I've been a fan since day one and I'd love to seem him win that 5th title. But time waits for no one, not even the GREAT Evander Holyfield. He has nothing to prove and If he retired I'd be as happy as anyone. I don't want to see him get hurt, but I will support him this last time. After this fight win or lose he MUST retire!
I doubt he will be doing much in the way of training. He is too busy making more little Holyfields to add to his ever growing army.
He actually mentioned in those press conference videos for the fight that he can't actually do much sparring these days. You'd think that would tell him something, but this is Holyfield after all...
He was sparring with Dominick Guinn a few fights ago, which considering Guinn's willingness to engage (or lack thereof), was pretty safe. Holyfield can't afford to waste a single punch in sparring cuz his punch output is paltry to say the least. It's sad to see how his career has ended up. When he started fighting at heavyweight he was a punching machine that just wouldn't be denied. The truth of the matter is that Holyfield is a freak of nature. I don't care what anyone says. He could have easily been a shot fighter by age 29 because of the Qawi, Dokes, Stewart, and Foreman fights. All of which came before the beating Bowe gave him in '92. He came back to beat Bowe and Tyson and gave Lewis a real fight in the rematch when it was clear that he was past it. That should have been his last hurrah and everyone would have remembered how brave he was that night but then came the Ruiz fights and everything else. It's just been a downward spiral since then and a once-sparkling record has increased in losses.
Logic tells you that Vakuev will win a dominating 12 round. But IMO Valuev is overrated. He lost to Donald and twice to Ruiz. he also lost to Chagaev. He is slow and a stationary target without any head or foot movement. I think that style suits Holy pretty well. The problem is obviously Holy's punch output.
He's being trainied by Duke Evers (played by Tony Burton) and has his brother-in-law Paulie in his corner for this last fight. It's true, Holyfield dont spar anymore. And running's out too. So, what we'll be calling on is good ol fashion blunt force trauma. Horsepower. Heavy-duty, cast-iron, piledriving punches that will have to hurt so much they'll rattle his ancestors. Every time you hit him with a shot, it's gotta feel like he tried kissing the express train. Yeah! Let's start building some hurtin' bombs!
