This isn't about who you This content is protected to win, or who you This content is protected will win, but which fighter would get more accolades if they pull it off? Personally, I think it would be Manny Pacquiao. He is on such a hot streak, and is so popular right now, and beating Cotto - especially in spectacular fashion, would propel his popularity into the stratosphere. Sports Illustrated rarely puts boxers on it's cover, in fact I think the last time a fight was featured on their cover was when Evander Holyfield beat Mike Tyson in the first fight. I believe it had the title "GIANT KILLER". I truly believe that this is a type of David vs Goliath matchup in some ways. Pacquiao is the one who has the bigger mountain to climb, and it is annoying me that some people are acting like Cotto is the one who has to overcome something. Cotto has fought his entire career at the weight, and has been in against guys WAY bigger than Pac, like Margarito, Clottey, and hell, even Shane Mosley, and he did his thing against all three of those guys. Because of size, strength, and more experience at the weight, I think it is Cotto who should be the heavy favorite, and as a result, Pacquiao would deserve more credit - and who's win would deserve to be more "heralded".
Pacquaio is better but Cotto is bigger so in theory both should win. However Pacquaio is considered one of the top 2 pound for boxers and while Cotto is well respected he is not one of the top 2 boxers in the world and Cotto is not tht much bigger than Pacquaio. A Cotto win would be more impresive.
MP. This is the toughest fight for Pac to this date. He's facing a legit WW champ in his prime. Some people say Pac doesn't even belong in the WW division.
