whos the guy who used to do the commentary on the old fight videos? I mean, he was never there and half the time he used to describe a shot that was seconds away from bein landed. I used to think he was great when i was a kid
Jim Jacobs I think. I'm pretty sure he used to dub his voice over the footage. (Although something tells me I'm about to be proved wrong.)
Bill Stern. Stanley Unwin was good too. The best in the Uk at the present ,is Count Arthur Strong.:good
Carpenter's commentary for the Ali /Foreman fight was so bad he re -did it "Ali's so tired he can hardly hold his hands up," seconds later, "Oh My god! he's going to win the title back at 32 !" Nice man, dubious commentator, Reg was a good guy ,sat next to him a couple of times, no **** about him , very down to earth, and a gent. America's best was probably Don Dunphy. Cosell was better than given credit for.imo.
I watched the fight on closed circuit at Leicester Square, I had £25 on Ali to win. After the second round, you could see his plan beginning to take shape.
Had the same experience with Sean, g. Got to know him pretty well. He's the real deal -- HELLUVA good guy -- polite 'n gracious, to a fault. Only thing I resented: He was so much better looking than me, after so many wars in the ring.
