Who's your favourite characters in British Boxing?

Do you know who I really like? Alex Steedman. Nice calm and smooth presenting and commentating style. Unlike half of the Sky team who can give you a headache at times. I follow him on Twitter as well and he's quite a chap.

 

There aren't many British fighters nowadays that I really tune in for like I used to in the past.

Fighters I do like are Triple T Taylor, The Gorilla Ryder and Backache Burnett.

Pretty interesting that despite the huge marketing budget to influence people’s perception and all the belts he holds - only one person (and someone hugely biased towards Matchroom fighters at that) has picked Joshua on this thread..

 

Joshua doesn't have much character really. People like watching him because he's a massive knockout artist and his fights are usually pretty good to watch. As a person he's fairly nondescript really.

 

How am I hugely biased towards matchroom boxers? I've mentioned that the likes Bruno, Dubois, and Joyce are some of my favourite characters too. Considering there are two major promoters in the UK then odds are it's obviously going to include some matchroom fighters.

I know it's the cool thing to do for so called want to be hardcore boxing fans to hate on every matchroom fighter but I am not one of these people to judge a persons character by their promoter.

 

Your posts are usually pretty pro-Matchroom and particularly anti-Fury. It's not a criticism at all, just an observation.

The overall point was that despite his status and success, Joshua as a person hasn't caught the imagination of the public really - albeit just a small sample size of this forum.

For the record I don't 'hate' Matchroom - I think Hearn has done a lot of good for Boxing. There's a few Matchroom fighters I don't particularly like - Joshua, Bellew and Benn - but that's as far as it goes.

 

Tyson Fury, Tyson Fury and Tyson Fury.

definitely man. One of the most exciting fighters ever from this country, warrior. And really down to earth nice guy out of it. He just opened a new boxing gym in the area he grew up in Walkden, Salford, to give back to his community

 

Probably Joyce, no fake personality, what you see is what you get just a genuine nice lad.

Buatsi also has a good head on his shoulders.

 

Joe Joyce and Josh Taylor are my favourite British boxers at the minute.

Joyce just comes across a nice bloke.

Taylor says the odd daft comment but he seems down to earth to me. Nothing fake about him.

 

Fair play.

His fight with Rhodes is a very underrated fight.
