You think selekii....i thought it was just the cubans that couldnt turn pro. Probably wrong on that tho mate.

Personally just dont think their bringing through the same quality of fighters anymore for whatever reason/s. Hearn/hagler/leonard. Jones junior/toney/hopkins/mcllellan. These guys would be able to compete in any era. Now they ve got guys like broner. Wilder. Plus a bunch of average guys. The top ones seem to be few and far between compared to days gone by. Even hopkins was competing with top guys only a few years back...hes coming on 50. Holyfield another one who was still hanging with decent guys years after he should have been. They used to produce guys that were pretty complete fighters now you see guys with more flaws than strengths.

Plenty - Chocolatito, GGG, Kovalev, Rigo (although disgusted by his inactivity, needs to be looked at) USYK, Lomachenko, Crawford and Mikey - all must see TV when they fight or better still if you can go and see them live.

nope The ex Soviet Union (Russians, Ukrainian, Kazkhs, etc) fighters were only able to turn pro from the late 90's . And still to this day most of the top Russian amateurs don't turn pro. It's amazing for example that Kovalev was the 3rd choice Russian at his weight in the amateurs.Other countries such as Italy.. their top amateurs almost never turn pro.

Yeah it's probably for both reasons. Increased competition world wide - boxing was practially a Domestic american sport back then
and their not producing the talent any more, the quantity is there but the quality is lacking.

Mad skills and such technical quality. He may not be explosive, but he's one for the purists.

Ah i didnt even know that with the soviet union. Probably will be a combination of the two. Its a pity the americans werent bringing through the goods atm tho. Brits seem to be doing well. The ex soviet union fighters doing well. Cuba on a smaller scale got a few. Everyone but the americans seem to have improved on the pro scene. Just looks like their going backwards to an extent.
