So? He was British and Commonwealth champion, fought for the world title against a fighter he'd previously beaten. He was a handful, and hard as nails, saw him fight a couple of times, talented fighter on his night. Judging a fighter purely on his won loss record is not looking at the full picture.
60 fights in 14 years, that's a fan friendly record if ever there was one. In 15 years Tyson Fury has had 34 fights, 9 of those in the first 10 months of his career. Granted he had a couple of years off or so to mask over a failed drugs test and then the subsequent lack of discipline that saw him put that weight on but you can see what I'm getting at here, fighting man and all that. Daho was a proper throwback fighter.
Man this place has changed. Once upon a time round a third of the posts would have been arguing about Enzo Mac.
Jamie Moore Ryan Rhodes Richard something (used to don the leapoard shorts) Nigel Benn Pat Barret Enzo Mac David Haye Lennox Lewis Carl Frampton Micky Theo
I never remember that surname so thanks sonny. He could punch! I gotta add Crolla too. He had no quit in him at all. And Groves was very good tv when coming up. He was very spiteful in his prime.
Agree ref Groves, he had a good jab too. I remember Evatt was close to stopping Junior Jones early until he got knocked out by a huge hook late on.
I remember I had a double on Groves and Pacquiao both by points that night (Pac was fighting Rios) so was not happy with the ref. Having said that I do still think the ref robbed Froch as much as he did Groves that night as he didn’t allow either to win correctly. I did want Froch in the rematch, just because I saw him as the underdog. I was underwhelmed with Groves in the second fight. He couldn’t miss with the right hand in the first fight, and throws it beautifully. Froch did get in his head a bit in the gloves are off. Very enjoyable rivalry that was.
Froch in both fights. I was a massive fan of Froch but I think it was the fights against Froch when Groves started to grow on me and ended up becoming a favourite of mine also.
Herol Graham Fitzy Lennox Derry Matthews McGuigan Probably others but these are the first 5 that popped into my head, different levels all but I enjoyed them all the same.
