Well, seems like Mike Jones is blowing up the scene, but his fight vs sturdy Lenin Arroyo a year ago wasnt impressive. Lenin Arroyo just fought Mike Alvarado in April, and Mike just steamrolled him over.

And big Turkish puncher, Selcuk Aydin was expected to roll over prospect Said Ouali but didnt and barely won a split decision that could have gone either way. Said rocked and hurt him a couple times in the fight.

Dont forget Luis Abregu.... Martinez's fellow countryman. He's lined up for his biggest fight on July17, vs Timothy Bradley, titleist who's moving up in weight. Will Luis win and prove he's a Title Contender or will he get exposed?

So things are not so black & white maybe? Who's your prospect picked to best become a Title Contender?

    Hopkins is the man!

Jones has been floating round for a while, and just doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

Of that list, Jones has the most upside. He's for real.

Yet Hopkins has done so much to prove himself the man beyond what Jones has done?

Sorry, but decisions over Feliciano, a shot Arnaoutis and Steve Forbes in a robbery do not the man make.

His first name is Demetrius for God's sake, what is more 'the man' like than that?

Jones has the talent - there is no doubt about that, but he needs to start going after the big fights. I think he'd give Berto some trouble, but Mike needs to step it up first.

The not mentioned Kell Brook has a skeletal resume, but skills wise i think he has the talent to do more than any of the listed contenders.

Of the guys in the poll, I like Jones the best. Sometimes he's not as aggressive as he should be, but the pure talent and ability are all there.

Alvarado is in jail again, so I doubt he's doing much in the near future.

Saul Alvarez is a glaring omission from this poll though. Kell Brook also deserves to be on the list ahead of a few of those guys.

    Joseph Elegele

    Jose Benavidez

    Mikael Zewski

The first two guys are young and could move up to welter weight and really do some things in the division. Zewski looks the goods but time will tell

I'm sure he'd love to, but without a major promoter and with no network support, it was tough for him to get decent fights. Now that the networks have 'discovered' him, his level of competition should jump pretty quickly.
