I'll pull up the pedestal for Harry Greb. His resume is simply ridiculous. He was a MW who fought ATG's with only one eye and who legitimately beat up ATG HW's. http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/9019
There have been so many great fighters. Probably SRR, with honorable mention to Greb, Armstrong, Benny Leonard, Pep etc. Ali is the best heavyweight.
This is a real tough topic. However when you examine it properly 2 men stand out above all the others the great Charley Burley an absolute master of the craft and the unbeatable Floyd Money Mayweather a.k.a. The pretty boy. Ali was obviously the greatest and Floyd was TBE. Burley was so good even Sugar Ray Robinson avoided him.
I think broner has to be up there. 4 weight divisions, that’s 3 more than Ali and 2 more than SRR. That’s with the “real broner” not even bothering to show up for the fights. Always the other broner. If the real broner showed up for all those fights this wouldn’t even be a debate.
Well from what I've seen from Ray Robinson, the thing that strikes me most is that his jabs are solid but he uses them so effectively to return with a real lightning shot with momentum. How he manages to follow up the jab with a shot that is so well balanced every time, pretty amazing stuff for a fighter of 60, 70 years ago. Every shot has intent even if it's quick, something that is lacking in a lot of modern fighters. I'm quite new to the boxing scene so from what I've actually watched live on TV, Lomachenko is obviously the one that I can vouch for personally. He has got to have the best footwork of any boxer ever, no doubt about that. His footwork is extraordinary. I don't anyone can argue with that. Pacquiao has also got to be up there just because of all those world titles in so many different divisions. That will likely never be repeated again. They are all great in their own ways. Ray Robinson may be the most balanced choice of them all though. Proved himself at different divisions, has a great resume and impressed me personally from what I've seen of him in the ring, especially because of that power to speed balance in his shots as I said earlier.
I can Chavez sr Duran Hearns Leonard Pryor Even with the trouble an Old Del a Hoya gave him, I'm tempted to say him as well
