I’d go with SRR he had it all, speed, power in both hands, chin, stamina, and balls. He was 85-0 as an amateur. His first loss was when he jumped to middle from welter when he was 40-0 lost against LaMotta then avenged it 5 times, then after his first loss went on to a record of 128-1-2. Most of his losses came at higher weights and in his 30’s and 40”s

    With honorable mentions to:

    Greb,Pep,and Langford

Pep is IMO the greatest defensive fighter ever.

But Greb and Langford had a couple hundred plus fights in multiple weight classes. With minimal losses when you do the math.

Most boxing experts will say: Ray Robinson, Willie Pep, Joe Louis, Benny Leonard, Henry Armstrong, Greb, Langford
The one's I've seen in my time is: Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran, Pernel Whitaker, Richardo Lopez, Manny Pacquiao, Lennox Lewis, Roy Jones Junior, Julio Cesar Chavez, Floyd Mayweather Junior, and Bernard Hopkins.
Personal Pick from those: Ray Leonard

You have to remember that most of the footage you see of him, he's largely considered to already be past his best. Read before that someone has some old archived footage of him at WW that they paid big bucks for, meant to be real special. Hope it comes out one day.

For anybody to name anybody other than heavyweight to the question of "Who is the GOAT" is absurd.

Lower weight class fighters utilize a weight handicap. There is none in the HW division. So they are literally the greatest fighters.

There should be two separate discussions. One should be who is the greatest ever for HW fighters. And then who is the greatest p4p. Two totally different questions.

    I agree.

Although I'm not sure p4p even makes sense. Better probably to rate them all in seperate divisions.

Well, yeah, I agree to an extent. The fact that a hw has to face a greater variety of opponents does make clearing your contemporaries out much harder imo.
I.e you can be out-sized by bigger men and also have to fight smaller, more athletic guys.
Pure boxing skills will always be displayed better by the elite smaller guys though.
It's hard to rate W Klitschko as a "better" boxer than Willie Pep although a reasoned argument can be made.

The reason why heavyweights are better fighters than the lower weight guys is they will defeat them. Point blank and period.

Who is a better fighter Vasyl Lomachenko or Murat Gassiev. That's simple. Gassiev is superior and puts him in the grave.

I would say Loma is better p4p. But hes literally not better than Gassiev.

Maybe p4p, but would get crushed by even Breazeale.

Always a controversial and ultimately pointless question because we will just never know.

I couldn't honestly answer who I think is the best p4p technical boxer of all time as I haven't studied boxing history in enough depth although if pushed I would say Leonard.

Another way of looking at it is that I think a prime Mike Tyson would probably beaten any boxer that ever lived, the most dangerous fighter ive ever seen... but I wouldn't put him anyway near p4p lists as a whole.

It's Robinson, his skill set and ability have been the peak of boxing so far.

This. You can see in its eyes that this goat is unbeatable. The eye of the tiger... I mean, of the goat.

And sugar ray. Boxing was never the same after him.

    Sugar Ray..... Robinson, ofc. XD
