Hatton and Calazghe were enjoyable to watch IMO, but Nigel Benn was fabulous to watch.

of fighters i've seen live growing up I'd have to go for Conteh, from before that I'll say Winstone and a special mention for Johhny Owen.

 

Prince Naseem was my favourite British boxer, such a cocky wee ****!

Buchanan....but the one to always get me on the edge of my seat was Nigel Benn

 

Buchanan was also a ****ing brilliant operator.

 

As a young man, Chris Eubank. Hung on every word he said, every punch he threw. Was hooked after watching sportsnight & Eubank wouldnt even look at the intimidating Benn, & when he actually backed up his boasts & beat Benn, I was blown away as a young brit boxing fan by this fascinating character & Eubank became more than a fighter to me, culminating in me storming out of a pub when he lost to Collins & went straight home to bed I was so angry, another thread here asks why we are obsessive boxing fans & this story of mine suits just fine!

All the while, scottish boxing was in the doldrums. We had decent scrappers, but the 90's werent kind to scottish boxing, until the tail end that is, when a scottish fighter who was just a bit different to your average scottish fighter arrived, this young guy who fought at a great pace & could maintain it over 12 rounds... Scott Harrison.

Not only that, but scottish fighters are famous for their humility, famous for being nice, & although they are good character traits... Scotty was different. Single minded & straight to the point, & the stare of a serial killer to match his fighting skills. He was a new breed of scottish fighter for the 21st century, & Scotty became my new passion, this was Scotland making a comeback on the world boxing scene!

Thats why those two fighters are my all time favourites, Eubank got me into boxing(on a hardcore level), & Scott Harrison made me proud to be a scottish boxing fan!

I still have fighters I love to watch & cheer to the rafters, but as I get older & my old memories become more beautiful, its hard to imagine having boxing heroes like those two again.

Came in wearing shades and a Kilt and Leopard Print Shredded Pants and sparked out a guy in 2 rounds while show boating.

Every Naz fight was a very exciting event to see what he do next.

 

John Conteh. Style personified.

 

How would have John Conteh fared against the Great - Roy Jones Jnr - at Light Heavyweight ?

 

Did you know Scott Harrison was in Eubank's entourage for the Thornton fight.

 

Eubank for me, The entrance and the style the guy had ridiculous heart and i love compact crisp punching and that was Eubank down to a tee.

After that like Dunky it was Harrison, Flower of Scotland before fights sung by wee Davie. Emotional!
