Tyson Fury Kubrat Pulev Helenius ( if he fights again) Szpilka Lucas Browne Wilder won't, cause he will refuse to fight any dangerous opponent.
Yeah none of the heavies are safe if they step up, if we learned anything from 2013. (Boytsov, Abdusallamov, Povetkin, Ustinov, Price, Carmack, Hanks, Wawrzyk, Larsen, Scott, Pianeta, etc - they were dropping like flies...) Gjergjaj, Kimbo, Jennings, Teper and Mansour all better take notice and tread carefully.
too funny. six guys voted for the one least likely to lose, triple G. well, besides Floyd. he sure as hell isn't going to fight anyone who can challenge him.
As hot as Rigondeaux is right now, it seems people are failing to recall that unlike PBF or GGG he actually has struggled with merely "good" opponents. :think To me, while his is probably safe relative to all the rest of the zeroes it stands in far more jeopardy than Mayweather's or Golovkin's as there are potential threats in his division for him, where there really aren't for them. Yet they have a combined nine votes while there are none for him.
There was some major guys who lost their '0' in 2013. Canelo, Broner and John were probably the most notable but also some of the rising guys like Mickey Bay and David Price. There is something mythical about unbeaten guys especially at the championship level and it's good for the sport when they get beaten too.
Agree regarding Kell Brook. Lots of guys who have been protected or kept away from punchers always makes me suspicious.
Dmytro Kucher, Samuel Vargas, Arash Usmanee, Claudio Marrero, Ryo Miyazaki, Zsolt Erdei, Martin Murray, Marco Antonio Periban, John Ryder, Jonathan La Bomba Gonzalez, Sharif Bogere, Jack Culcay, Darleys Perez... all champions or contenders or significant prospects who entered 2013 undefeated... I'm probably missing a bunch, too.
Why can we not vote for multiple boxers? There are some good candidates there. - Wilder if he steps up - Garcia if he keeps fighting high profile opponents - Golovkin provided he goes up to 168 and fights one of the top dogs. - Gamboa, doesn't even need to step it up to lose his 0. Looked dreadful lately. - Kovalev vs. Stevenson is about 50/50 so it might happen - Bradley - depends on who he fights really. He beats most welters but probably loses again to Pac and loses most certainly to Floyd
If Lomachenko beats Salido- which is obviously a pretty big if, a fight with Rigo could be made in the 2nd half of the year. Then somebodies 0 has got to go and if Loma is as good as some posters expect him to be  I wouldn't rule out a fight round about November time between Triple G and Ward either. And if you look at it that way the only one's that are safe are Mayweather and Kovalev.
You are asking an awful lot of a novice in the pro game, whether he's on the amateur GOAT shortlist or not. Salido in his sophomore and Rigondeaux (another ATG amateur) in his third outing? That would pretty much make Lomachenko an automatic lock for 2014 Fighter of the Year no matter what anybody else did. I won't entirely rule out the possibility of him pulling it off, but it would be quite a feat. If he gets by Salido, we should have more of a sampling on which to base analyzing his match-up with Rigondeaux. (who also got fast-tracked into the deep end...just not quite that fast...)
Gamboa is a difficult one to know, for an undefeated guy his career has had some low points and if he fights M Garcia either guy could lose the 0 there. If he has another year of inactivity or without marquee fights his career could further drift into irrelevance despite maybe taking no losses. I'd say Bradley has a good chance of losing the 0 as it it quite likely he will fight Pacquaio again. Even Provodnikov would be far from a sure thing for him, dangerous fights for Bradley in 2014 (JMM would be the easiest and safest actually) Kovalev will keep the 0, if he fights Stevenson there's a chance it'll go but I'd favour Kovalev in that matchup. Wouldn't be altogether amazed if somebody got to Stevenson's 0 first though. Wilder could likely lose the 0 if he fights a live body and doesn't land 1st. Rigo won't have many fights imo with network issues and many of the challenges are either GB or guys who don't want to fight him or want to fight others instead, so it could be an underwhelming and frustrating year for El Chacal but one where he keeps his 0. Don't see Golovkin being beaten in 2014 at MW, esp since Martinez probably won't fight him (unless its late 2014) and even then I'd pretty heavily favour GGG due to Martinez being faded. Danny Garcia could well lose the 0. A rematch vs Matthysse is still a very dangerous fight if it happens, and lots of competitive fights for him at 140/147. Depends how much he fights though, it might only be twice and he might have his eye on a Mayweather bout for 2015. Andre Ward and Mayweather should hold onto the 0. Both will probably only fight twice and will be rightfully heavy favourites.
