As much as I dislike Aj, even if Fury beats Usyk twice, I think he needs to fight Aj before he calls it a day. If Aj is still on a good run by the time Fury and usyk settle their business and Fury wins? Then I think he needs to fight Joshua

If Usyk wins? He doesn't need to face Aj. He already proved he was better and age will actually catch up with him

Although I do think usyk gets a little hyped here and the level of opposition isn't imo that great, if he retires undefeated as the Undisputed Heavyweight champ, following the Undisputed CW creditionals? Then he is an elite tier all time great, right up there with the best

You’re crazy bro. Fury’s resume looks worse by the day. If he loses to Usyk he is a nobody. This is what it’s come to, his whole legacy is hanging on one fight.

It's Fury's. Fury dethroned Wlad and has not lost since.

If Usyk wins the rivalry against Fury, that would indicate the start of a new era.

If he hadn't of been inactive for over 2.5 years after the Wlad win and been done for doping which casts doubt over the validity of the Wlad win in the first place, I'd say that is the case. But I don't think you can ignore that, we can't just pretend that it didn't happen and take that win as 100% valid. No other sport would do that and just say, well you get to keep your gold medal even though we know you were cheating.

Even if we do ignore his doping you can't just win a title and not face your top challengers, Joshua and Usyk are clearly the two best heavyweights alongside Fury in the post Wlad era and he is yet to face either of them despite it being over 8 years since he beat Wlad, what other champion and supposed number 1 in the division in boxing has gone 8 years without facing the 2 best fighters in the division. Just because Fury is theoretically linear doesn't mean it's his era he's gone too long without facing the best in the division to say he's still number 1.

I completely agree that someone can't hold a legacy of being the fighter of an era, without actively trying to fight the others near the top of that era. I don't see how Fury or anyone else can just claim an era by default. It's a bit of an insult to the true greats who took chances to fight the best of their generation.

There are very few boxers to whom you can assign an entire era. And it is usually those that do not have an ATG level opponent. Joe Louis (40s), Marciano (52-55), Holmes (78-85) and Wlad (2006-2014) come to mind. In an era where you have multiple contenders (1971-77 and 1991-97), it is not easy to simply say 'it is this guy's era'. It is usually the best guy (Ali, Holyfield) who gets the honors. The current era (2015-present) has not had a dominant champion. Therefore, we need to wait before arriving at conclusions.

Kinda agree. But I think it's been Usyks since the AJ rematch when Fury was retired.

So I'd say Fury had the post Wlad era, Usyk has had the post Fury era.

Fury has a claim to call himself the best of his era, but realistically, what did he do after beating Wlad? He abdicated in October 2016 and didn't fight until mid-2018. After he came back, when it comes to Top 10 contenders, he only beat Wilder and Whyte (who's been beaten twice by then). He didn't beat AJ who emerged as the best between 2016-2018. He retired in August 2022 and after coming back he beat Chisora for the 3rd time and almost lost to a boxing novice. AJ beat more Top 10 contenders in this era and Usyk beat AJ. It's not Fury's era until he beats Usyk and AJ.
