The ones that combine toughness/strength/size/heart/work rate the best. Pulev for example is tough and very sturdy but lacks a bit of power that you can call him a top brawler, tyson fury has a huge frame and good power also despite being 6'9 is one the better inside fighters and has shown heart a few times, chin is a bit shaky however. Alexander povetkin lacks the size needed to brawl with the bigger heavyweights, great combo puncher, tough and very good power. Carlos takam was a good pressure fighter vs Thompson got inside and roughed and out worked him, he's also built like a tank and although ko'd by povetkin he's very tough, a bit similar to chisora but derek is smaller, moves more and has good energy and is also very tough only knocked out by haye, who in all honesty has great powr and speed, chisora problem is his lack of power, the Cuban/irish forgot his name mike pereZ fighter is a brute, got good power not top notch, a granite chin, and in the magomed fight he showed strong will and stamina to get through that very gruelling showdown, but he also has come in fat and was out worked by Bryant Jennings close fight mind. Heart stamina and toughness will win the battle of the brawlers but you need that equaliser to win it outright, who's is the best brawler in the hw division.

This is when all else fails, when your not relying on boxing skills, ring iq, or even speed, you have both been hurt your both not thinking straight, tired and fighting on pure instinct! Going toe 2 toe till the finish! For example wlad klitchko isn't mentioned, when his senses are gone they are gone, nor does david price get a mention we all see what happened when the tiger got him hurt and tired. Wilder hasn't been ko'd out yet so it's up to you if you want to make a case for him, alexander ustinov quit vs pulev when he couldn't avoid the jab, doesn't apply! Maruisz wach might be a good pick with his steroid injected chin and 1 punch power, Bryant Jennings I haven't seen enough to comment. Amir mansour great power tough and showed heart but was ultimately beaten by a better boxer in Cunningham, although it was a long count on the kd. Cunningham and Adamek - too small! Big daddy Browne could be seen as only a brawler! Hits like a truck huge strong man, stamina?! Beat bums only.

I wouldn't consider Pulev to be a brawler at all, more of a boxer-puncher.
The obvious choice would be Povetkin.

I'd say Povetkin. Though he lacks the size and strength to be a real effective brawler. He probably beats anyone in the current division that dares to just stand and trade. That's why Takam lost, he did better earlier when he boxed more but as he tired he stood in front of Povetkin and duly got knocked out for doing so.

If Chisora had more power I'd say he was the better brawler, he has enough strength to not be easily manhandled and has a good work rate and head movement to get inside. But once inside his actual punches lack the sharpness, precision and power that Povetkin has.

Gotta be Povetkin, although he isn't a pure brawler.

He would completely annihilate Fury by the way. Where does this overrating of Fury come from (I don't mean the place of course, but the idea)?

Fury aint a great boxer, he aint a discplined giant like wlad who can keep his man off with just his left hand. he likes to turn fights into brawls and get inclose for some reason, and hes won a few fights doing that, turning it ugly and brawling to get the win. 6'9 255lbs and hes got good power and heart. im not saying hes a great boxer, because he isnt, but he is a good brawler. boxer > brawler anyway if you can keep your discipline for 12rounds, with heavyweight boxing the reason why its not rated as highly as the other weights because the boxing skills arent there, you dont really hear terms like 'schooling' 'shutout' etc in 12round hw clashes, only wlad and vitali can do that and pulev to a lesser extent, but most of the time its two big men mauling each other and laying on each other with little footwork and technique.

doesnt have to be a brawler per se, just when push comes to shove! would he outbrawl the rest.

    Good list.
