Assuming he fought the perfect fight and came in within his prime around his jump from LH to the Ruiz fight, what's the most challenging fighter he could have overcome in the heavyweight division? It seems easy to dismiss the Ruiz fight due to his caliber as a fighter, but I think Jones was capable of much more in terms of historical H2H match-ups with heavys. Whose the best you think he could have taken on and won against?

Leon Spinks. I agree that Burns also would have lost. Not many more. Maybe Leon's brother,Michael.

Some of the cruserweight types like Dempsey, Langford, Tunney, Marciano, Schmelling, Spinks. None of those guys were that much bigger, they were inferior boxers, inferior defenses, much slower and he could hurt them all and possibly KO some of them

No ****ing way is Jones beating Marciano.

How come you don't mention Walcott or Charles? These are his best chances to win against great Heavies I think.

Leon Spinks maybe...Marciano or Patterson would have killed him. Marciano would have ended Jone's career.

I would rate his chances against come back Foreman although there is the thing where one mistake and its over for Jones.

He would have suffered the same fate as Moorer..one shot from George..and I know that traditionally Foreman was not a one punch fighter, but Jones would have joined Moorer in that exclusive fraternity of one punch victims to Foreman.

That what i was getting at for Jones to win he has to get it right for 100% of the fight. Fore Foreman to win he needs to get it right for 1%. I know who the gamblers would be picking.

Old Foreman is a better Heavy overall in H2H terms, but i can definitely see your point.

Morrison had a fragile chin, but managed to run & pot-shot his way to a decision against Old George, so i could see RJJ doing the same if he isn't caught by "one big punch".

Marciano was way behind the cards against a Walcott, who didnt have near the stamina or speed of Jones. HE may well have lost to LaStarza and fought largely on even terms with Past Prime Charles until he pulled out the champship rounds. He was also down against Moore and Walcott. Jones is a physical phenomenon, he would outbox Rocky, he can hurt Rocky. Rocky would have to eat punches to land punches and try to a score a come from behind KO. I'm not picking Jones as the favourite and ofcourse Marciano can KO him, it doesn't mean he would though

Yes I'd probably add Walcott/Charles to the list of opponents Jones has a decent shot at and I'd actually give him a shot against Louis, given Louis's problems with Conn, Schmelling and Walcott

Its actually pretty laughable that 1 of the most dominant boxer of all time gets dismissed against fighters who have a mere 10lb weight advantage prime for prime

Jones is to fragile to beat a monster like Marciano.

Honestly, I don't even think about it. If it happened it would be like the biggest shock I could imagine out of any fantasy fight.
